ActiveSync didn't work after ROM update!

I updated the ROM of my x50v, everything was fine. But when I put it back into the cradle, the ActiveSync on my PC didn't automatically connect to the PDA. I tried choosing 'Get Connected' option in the menu of ActiveSync and it indicated no device cound be detected.

Do I have to reinstall the ActiveSync on my PC to make it work? If I do so, I am concerned about the backup data of the applications and notes before the updating of the ROM. The new install may clear the saved backup data.

No, you don't need to reinstall activesync on ur pc. When you finished updating, the only thing that needed to be done was for activesync to create/recreate a new partnership with the axim for it to sync

So there should be somewhere in ActiveSync menu that I can recreate the partnership manually? I would try as soon as I get to home today.

I've had this problem too after updating the ROM.

Created new partnership, ActiveSync works once, syncs everything correctly, then on subsequent attempts it recognizes the partnerships, checks for changes, starts to synchronize the first few items, then shuts down after a few seconds and can't be restarted.

Any suggestions?

Spent hours in on-line chat with Binoy who refused to acknowledge that the problem could be with the ROM update process. He tried to blame spyware on my computer, my firewall, my antivirus program, Microsoft ActiveSync, etc. Finally spoke for another hour or more with a technician over the phone who tried EVERYTHING and finally said it must be the Axim needs to be replaced. Everything was fine until ROM updated. Hmmm ...?

Update on my ROM Update:
Created a partnership on my home computer, which seems to be stable and correctly synchronizes at home several times. Then created a new partnership at work using this same partnership name and now this seems to work at work as well. So far anyway. Odd.

I'm not going to mess with it while it's working to see if I could now create a new, working partnership at work, just leave well enough alone. The ROM is updated and the PocketPC is syncing correctly on both computers. I did apparently successfully update the ROM on my work laptop but it does only have one USB port and it was connected through another USB port on my docking station when I did update the ROM.

Could that explain ActivSync previously working fine through my docking station and then not being able to create enduring partnerships after the ROM update? Who the hell knows?

Read elsewhere, but I had the same problem - activesync crashes when it gets to syncing the Mobile favourites. Dunno why this should be, but if you tell ActiveSync not to sync Favourites it (may) then go through okay. Worked okay for me, good luck
