Axim x50v in Transit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I posted this morning that I recieved a delayed email from Dell...well I just checked the status of my order on their webpage and it says in transit so go figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although I've been reading and learning many things about Axims and other PDA's for about a week now, I just joined the site recently and this is my first post. I'm pretty excited and everyone here seems really helpful. However, I'm not very excited about the e-mail I received from Dell this morning. You see, I just ordered an Axim X50v from them last week and it will be my first PDA ever. Naturally, I've been anticipating the ship date, which was supposed to be today (Feb 1). In the email they said that "due to unforseen circumstances" my Axim's ship date is being delayed until February 8!!! I understand these things happen, but c'mon, an extra seven days! Does anyone know the cause of this delay? Also, should I look forward to the new ship date, or will it most likely just be delayed again? I am not happy.

It's really hard to say what may be holding up your order. It may well ship before the new date they gave you. One of my latest orders from Dell arrived before I received the email informing me that it was shipped!

It might be a problem with an accessory's availability. I hope it arrives before you expect it!

Couldn't help but notice your name SOCPSY. I am a social psychologist myself and wonder about what uses you may have found for your Axim in the class room and at work. I assume you are probably a professor or a grad student.

My X50v is scheduled for delivery tomorrow!!! Woo hoo!!! I ordered it on Sunday with the standard free shipping...that's pretty sweet!

Apart from the PIM functions:

keep grade files in Excel format (I use PlanMaker on the X50v)
grade short papers (Textmaker)

Essentially, I've replaced my laptop with my X50.

At some point, I plan to buy a presentation package so that I can do powerpoint presentations via video projector.

You are correct, I was trained as a social psychologist. Click on my screen name above my avatar and then "visit socpsy's homepage" for my rather boring "official" page on my institution's website.

Mine (Axim X50v) should be getting here on the 3rd of feb.....two days!! I got the Dell GPS package with it also and that will be here tomorrow. I am sure I will be seeing many of you on the board.

My x50v shipped out later this evening (2/1/05) but I haven't recieved an email from Dell yet regarding tracking number. But it's typical that I get that email after it's been delievered. This will be my second x50. The first being a x50 mid, but I was one of the lucky ones to have an x50 that happened to have a big appetite for USB ports and motherboards. Managed to get Dell to pick up my x50 and I pay the difference for the x50v. After selling the Dell laptop that was killed by my Axim, I picked up an IBM T42 laptop, USB Hub, and a brand new x50v. I should be ready to go.....now I just need my tax return to pay the bills. :rolling:
