Limit On POP3 Messages From Server to Axim 50v

I've had my Axim 50v for about a week now. I subscribed to T-Mobile and can access through WiFi at any hotspot so that's working well.

I was also able to configure a POP3 account using my Outlook incoming and outgoing information. I'm able to send and receive POP3 messages from Starbucks as if I'm at the office and it works good....but mayabe too good.

When I connect the POP3 it wants to download over 1,000 messages on my server and I don't need that much information on my PDA.

Is there anyone there that knows how to set the account to limit the amount of messages from POP3 to the device. I've tried on the PDA and I've tried to locate something while doing an Active Sync.

Please help with a suggestion if anyone knows how to do this.

Thanks.

Wow, and I thought I had a large number of emails to go through.

I looked through the details of a couple email programs, but none seem to have a way of limiting the inbound messages.

This may be a crued method, but have you tried disconnecting part way through it transfering your emails? Or, do you have a web based way or accessing these? Then you don't have to download them all.

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I have to do...disconnect after getting the most recent message downloads, but it's a really fast procedure and just from doing this 4-5 times I have 340 messages now on my POP3 account on the Axim...way too much info and it eats into the memory.

I do check e-mail from webmail remotely when I'm out in the field, but since I have a 2GB storage, I like to leave a copy on the server so I keep the connectivity....that's good, but I don't want that much on the PDA.

I've checked settings on the device similar to setting up the ActiveSync where you can limit the synching to a number of days, or attachment file size. But I can't find anything on doing this from the POP3 account.

Anyone else have any ideas.

If you go into the account setup on the axim, then click through to (4/4) Server Information.

Click Options, then next to (2/3) You can set the number of days to sync here.

Unfortunately, it still looks through the entire mailbox every time it connects, which can be a pain if you are paying for data. Even though it doesb't download the items it still uses bandwidth.

Anyhow, this way you can still hit disconnect, but only the last x days will be downloaded.
