I for one liked the "recomended" notes. While I am sure they are all good programs, the "recomended" help me narrow it down a bit. Like the PocketTV vs. BetaPlayer. Both good programs, but I would still recomend BetaPlayer over PocketTV. Maybe there is another way to recomend one without making people think you need the others. Nice Job on the list!

May be we should have some kind of voting results (rating from a scale of 10) beside the software to reflect the popularity. One person (a member) should be able to vote only once.

I also think it's ok to have the word "recommended" or some stars next to outstanding "must have" programs viewed as such by a large community consensus (e.g. Betaplayer, Resco File Explorer, etc).

PocketGPS review

when you couple a VGA PDA with a VGA aware application you suddenly get a lot more real estate to play with. For an experienced GPS user the results are quite stunning. All the previous displays have shown actual dot for dot the image displayed on the PDA. The following is the same taken from the 4700. The image is so wide that I can only include a portrait version here.

The only one I have found so far is Pocket PC Benchmark, which requires Microsoft eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime to be installed which I have not yet discovered how to do.

I am also having difficulty in getting both Doom and Quake to run correctly.

Very many thanks. I have mow managed to install eMbedded VB and Pocket PC Benchmark now runs satifactorily.

I will try different pak files and see what happens with Quake.

iLauncher is 'true-vga' compatible? That's news to me. The icons are just too blasted small in 'true-vga' mode to of much use (although I struggle with it daily). The next update is supposed to address compatibility in 'true-vga' mode, however (patiently waiting for a month).

May be you'r right!
But I like the small icons. It allows me to put many shortcuts in the todays screen.

tabten5 - I say you link to the main page for each piece of software and leave it at that. People seem to have different definitions of recommended and VGA optimized and necessary.

Only a minority use such hacks, but i guess they have some value to some people.

Prove it. I've seen more and more people heading the true VGA direction.

I don't think that SE_VGA and osVGA are needed for the "full potential of the Axim X50v".

It doesn't take good eyes, it takes spending some time tweaking the settings and font sizes to know what works for you. I don't like these generalizing remarks ("if you have good eyes and if your hand does not shake" ) because it scares people out of trying true VGA mode.
