ValkyrieRider,
Thanks for your reply. I was running PowerBar, JournalBar, ProgramBar, etc to get weather and program start icons on the screen. But, there was no way to make the icons large enough to use. So I found a launcher program (scot seligman clauncher, I think) so that I could have program links on the today screen. But, I wanted to have a reset icon and a power off icon on the today screen - so in the screenshot, you see the launcher plugin as well as one row of tiny program bar icons. The program bar icons give me the reset and power and a list of journal bar links for misc info. BUT I WASN'T HAPPY WITH THIS SETUP - that is why I posted.

Since then, I have downloaded Wisbar2 and WeatherPanel. So, thanks for the advice. WeatherPanel is completely customizable on the OzVGA and Wisbar is as well. There aren't many skins available yet but if you are good with photoshop, you can make your own graphics and plug them into working wisbar2 skins. That is what I did - got my reset and power off on the top bar that way.
I will just stop using journal bar and program bar altogether. I can use avantgo for sports/news/finance info. I don't know if Avantgo will give me customized stock - movie times, etc like Journal bar does - but I will soon find out.

It looks like you have customized your weatherpanel and today screens quite a bit - looks great.

Thanks for the help!

Ok, here is how it looks now. I have found today plugins that work well with the OzVGA running all the time.
Wisbar2
Ownerinfo X
Weatherpanel
CLauncher
Omega BatteryBar
ThemeSwitcher
Pocket Music

Questions -
1. Anyone know a way to get PocketMusic to stretch all the way accross the today screen?
2. Anyone know of a resource where you can download icons for use on the PPC??? I don't have enough icons to assign to the programs/settings links on CLauncher. I haven't found any to download and the ones I have on my desktop PC don't work on the PPC.

Thanks gang!

Looking better, bcovington! Sorry I didn't respond earlier.... I neglected to re-read this thread.

Right off the bat, I see that you are using the VGA version of the Organizer WA2 theme, hence the icons are too big for the top-bar when operating in true-vga mode. You need to either use a theme designed specifically for true-vga, or use a QVGA theme (this is true most of the time). You will need to play around with this, as sometimes the QVGA themes work, and sometimes they don't.

I wasn't able to get PocketMusic to view properly in true-vga either, so I've been using GSPlayer. It does not have a Today screen plugin, but I don't mind that. I have not found any player with a Today screen plugin that works well in true-vga mode. Doesn't mean there's not one out there.... I just haven't found one yet. I like GSPlayer so much, though, I probably will stick with it.

Doug

Thanks Doug.

I have seen others recommend GS Player. I might give it a try.

Yes it is the "organizer vga" bar. I have several installed on my system but that is my first try at changing the buttons. I don't plan on sticking with it. It was just sort of a test - as I haven't seen one yet that had the reset and power off buttons. I added those buy making the buttons in photoshop and then switching them with the files named custom 1 and custom 2 in the organizer folder.

Have a good evening,
Bryce

I was looking through the forums, but could not find anything on this, so sorry if I repeat something.

But, I am trying to get the Dell GPS software that came with the NAVTEQ BT adapter to work in true VGA mode. Now, it runs and all, and actually highways seem to be displayed across the entire screen. but roads, as well as naming is only in the upper left 1/4 VGA area. Also, the location pointer is located at the center of this upper-left area of the screen.

I am just looking for a VGA solution since I'd rather not flip back and forth to fake-VGA every time I want GPS.

I have Pocket Streets 2005 as well, which works with my BT GPS receiver, but it has no direction capability that I can tell. (as a side note, the BT GPS receiver works with my laptop as well via my Belkin BT adapter... very cool)

I am wondering if there is some sorta hack, or software update for the Dell software. I have gone to NAVTEQ's site, and it is just listing ways to get updated map software. I'd rather not pay 150-180 bucks for VGA compliant software from one of the other venders.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

-Locarian

VGA themes
Hey, this may not be the best place to post this - but here goes.

Theme builder for any resolution, landscape or portrait!!!![color=Red]

http://www.ida.net/users/oe1k/programs/ThemeBuilder/
At first the page doesn't look like much, but read on! This guy has found the way to use Microsoft's "theme builder" software - with some customization - to allow you to use any picture you want, any size, etc, etc, etc. Just follow his instructions and you can make your own true VGA themes!!! Works beautifully!!! And not washed out. Take a look. I have it at landscape in the "true" OzVGA mode. Good luck!

If this info belongs somewhere else, send me a link and I'll post it there.

Cool. I don't know how I missed that. I had been looking for something for a while. Then I saw an unanswered post in another section about the same thing. When I found that web page, I thought that was the only solution.
Thanks

Looking for a good backup program that supports "True" VGA. Anyone know of any? I heard Sprite Backup is good, but I'm not sure if it is VGA supported.

I found another VGA-compatible program (not sure if it's 'true' VGA compatible):

PocketPuTTY v0.1 prealpha (http://pocketputty.duxy.net/)

For SSH1, SSH2 and Telnet connections from your PPC

I've been testing Vito Sound Explorer 1.25, and am pleased to announce it is 'true vga' aware, with nice large text. It has a nice Today screen plugin also. I'm still testing the software, and am not sure if it handles streaming audio. Can't figure that out yet. Sound quality is first rate. When I get home, I'll post a screen capture.

Doug.

You got it to work? (It launches, but I can't figure out how to give it any input)

I've been watching PocketPuTTY for ~3 months (love the PC version), but the developer seems to be dragging his feet on issuing any updates, and especially on opening up the source code (2 months since the sourceforge project was created..) so anyone else could contribute. Not very encouraging
