Ouch, I have the same issue and was hoping someone could help out. This post is all I found. Does no one else use Microsoft Exchange Server for their email at work?

Your company has to have Outlook Web Access (OWA) or Outlook Mobile Access (OMA).

I was afraid of that. We do still have Outlook Web Access I believe. When we first got laptops, that was the method of retrieving emails on the road.

We later set up Nortel Contivity VPN using Sprint dialup. I thought I'd be able to use my home DSL with a VPN setup to get email at home or on the road? Is that what Outlook Mobile Access does for you?

Worried

I am not necessarily agree with you nor disagree. I was struggling with this issue when I received my Axim. The easiest way for setting up is to create a new e-mail account on your PDA. Exchange servers normally use IMAP(4) protocol. When you done with this and you stay in the office and your PDA is connected to your PC, try to synchronize this account. If it works, the only thing you need to set up is the VPN, if you’re lucky then your IT guys will help you. One important thing is that during the IMAP set-up it’s better to use the IP addresses instead of the server names (like 112.212.123.121 instead of mail.company.com). This is important, because sometime I use dial-in connection to check my mails.
At least this is what works for me.

OMA is OWA formatted for smaller screen sizes ... like PDAs and cell phones. OMA is only available with Exchange 2003.

OMA is not that big of a deal to install. If your company has purchased Exchange 2003, then you already own OMA. To install it, your Exchange Admin needs only to re-run the setup for Exchange and add the component (Exchange Modile Services).

Once this is done you can configure ActiveSync to sync with a remote server by providing the HTTP URL and your username in its settings.

The only other thing you may want to do, is get an Encryption Certificate to enable SSL.

I use this all of the time. I find it very convenient to be able to sync my PDA wirelessly to Exchange.......

OWA is installed by default on Exch 2k3...
I run Exchange 2k3 at home.
I tried OMA but it is horrible on the x50v since i can get to OWA, but it is great on cell phones though...
