Cheers

The X50V is the first ppc to have a true 3D card, it will be a while before we start to see people making games that get the most out of it.

Plus unless it's free, the developers have to make money on it, and a game like that I guess would be financially unwise - especially considering the number of PDA owners who play commercial games.

There's PocketDOOM, but that's the only 3D shooter I know about on the PPC.

Cool! And with a WiFi can you do death matches?
I have fond memories of playing Doom in the labs at University of Maryland. Lots of late nights. :)

Hmmm... Actually, it was Pocket Quake I think I was thinking of. However, there does seem to be a Pocket DOOM as well. I don't know if it works on the latests PPCs, though.
And no idea if you can do death matches. :)

Yeti !!!
Try that. It's only the demo of a 3D engine, but it's playable, and will blow your mind. Free, uses 2700G chip and VGA screen fully. Unbelievable to have that quality, level of details and smoothness on a PDA... And it's a 3D shooter, by the way.
Yeti

Yeah well that's part of the problem these days. Everyone wants to make money and no one does things just for the enjoyment anymore. Back in my day when I started with computers everyone shared everything and groups of people got together and helped on another with the ongoing projects.
Programmer's and hardware people have lost the vision. After I make this transition from Windows to Linux I intend to break out some dev tools and start some sort of public project I can share with fellow developers, for the enjoyment, not the money. Part of the reason I think Linux will continue to thrive despite efforts from MS to the contrary.
Cheers

There is the CubeEngine ( http://www.cubeengine.com/) which looks even more promising than Yeti.

Hey, you people forgot to mention the other 3D game. Cube. The one that was ported by Intel to take advantage of their 2700g video chip in the x50v. It supports multi-player via wifi and single player as well. It is a bit choppy but looks great and is FREE. :)
Here are the screenshots:

Here is where you can download it:

EDIT: Ooops, the guy just beat me with the post above.

You can also add Intel's adaptation of the Cube Engine to the Pocket pC. Although it is designed for the Axim x50v in mind because of the video chip, not sure if it would run on any of the other high end Pocket PC's. It is a full 3D envirorment, and I tried it, the graphics were great, control needs to be worked out, but the graphics and frame rate were decent.
