Question Headphone volume level

Until recent I didnt pay much attention to playing MP3s on my Axim but yesterday decided to try and found that the headphone volume level is abnormaly loud even if the volume control both in windows and playing program set to minimum. I tried two mp3 player programs and betaplayer with the same result. The only program that sets headphone volume to the reasonable level is win media player. Is this a common problem or I just miss something?...
Thanks in advance :)

I've heard a couple others complaining about this as well (I wouldn't know, because my x50v is still on it's way).... One solution would be to get headphones with hardware volume control. There may be a way to fix it through software, but this is the first thing that comes to mind.

either use wisbar advance, it has more steps in the volume control (great skinning program) or use betaplayer and bind keys to "fine volume up/down" as default it changes main volume so you can chang evolume with it and use a different player if you dont like betaplayer though its the best one around!

I have the same problem, I wanted a bit more volume than WMP allowed so i tried GS PLayer and dependent upon the headphones it is normal to loud to painfully loud, I am using Phillips earbuds and have GS Player on the lowest settings, I guess I have missed a setting or something but when its Motorhead you need volume control :)

Load the equilizer mixer for the x50 as described in these forums, it has a specific slider volume control for headphones, I can get the sund to a whisper.

Volume to loud with BetaPlayer? Try this;

You can switch off 'Use system volume' in BetaPlayer's advanced setting. This will separate the player volume from the system volume and in theory player volume resolution will be very good (but it will only max out to the currently set system volume)

That's straight from the developer. Works fine.

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions! x50mix headphone boost feature slightly reduces the volume but its still way too loud. Betaplayer trick works well and imo is the easiest one. I'm still under impression this is some OS bug gotta wait for A03 :)

Maybe I'm missing something or dont understand exactly what you guys are saying but...

I use PocketMusic as my MP3 player (just installed in the past couple of days) and starting tinkering with MP3's(My wife is the music nut so I bought her a Dell PocketDJ). At first I thought the MP3 volume was too loud and I couldnt control it with the PocketMusic volume slider. Then I opened X50v system volume slider and lowered the volume there also. So the app and the system volume control work together. I then also found that PocketMusic has a preamp slider on the equalizer that lowers the volume even further for pretty much total volume control. HTH.

OMG, this must be the best thing that happened since mp3 was invented :approve:
now i can listen to music with betaplayer and hear what's going on in the outside world at the same time!

Indeed, "Don't Panic!"'s method works quite well. However, I am noticing a faint buzzing (radio white-noise) distortion in the background. Is there a way to remove this as well?

It allows me to lower the volume further down. However, like the system volume changer, once I reach buttom 5%, instead of lowering volume, it will abruptly shutdown the volume. I guess what we want is incremental volume change without background hiss. Thanks.
