Comcast....

Hi everyone... I just got my new x50v and I was trying to get on-line and was successful, but when I went to Comcast.net, it said I need an updated browser. Does pocket pc have a fix for this and if so, how do I download it and where. I need this to check my email on the road... Plz let me know if anyone can help.. Thanks..

If you go to Pocket PC Magazine, you'll see some "finalists" (Software of the year) in terms of web browsers, and one of those programs falsely changes the version of Pocket Internet Explorer to let websites think that you're actually using another version. Otherwise, you'll have to try one of the other options.

I haven't dealt with it. If the page won't load, I don't worry about it.

There is a registry hack that will do this. It makes most websites think you are running IE 6. I don't have a link for you but if you search i imagine that it is posted here somewhere. You could also use Tweaks2k. The registry hack is included in this program.

Do a search for IE6 in the forums. There are some old discussions on this.

The "Search" box is a wonderful thing.

hey, i'm a Comcast service technician. you can make it much easier by just inputting the mail server settings into Outlook Express or windows messanging. it is a pop3 server with the incoming mail server being: mail.comcast.net

outgoing mail server:
smtp.comcast.net

much easier

04Hemi,

He's obviously trying to go to the webcast email from his Axim. The Axim does not have Outlook express or windows messaging and, while it does have a pocket version of Outlook, there are certainly reasons for not wanting to download mail onto your PPC. If Comcast would set up their site to recognize mobile devices, it would be simple to log onto the webmail.

Fortunately, Emeraldfirefly provided a work around in this thread. Instead of using the main Comcast url, use:
http://mailcenter.comcast.net/

This will allow you to access the login page for email (although for some reason, I need to try it twice every time I try before it works).

P.S. I should point out that using the registry hack to mimic IE6 never allowed me to log on to Comcast. The above workaround does not require that, so sites designed for pocket PCs still work properly.
