x50 unique speaker design: Is it a good idea?

While I do use my top of the line earbuds from SONY (E888)to listen to music and watch movies on my x50v, I've noticed that the speaker on the x50 isn't as loud as I wanted. I compared my Axim with my friend's one yr. old Ipad and hers sounds louder. Even her sweet $600 Nokia phone with built-in speaker sounds louder than my Axim! (This one )I'm thinking that because the Axim designers placed the speaker behind the D-pad, this causes the sound from the speaker to be partially blocked. While it is a unique idea, but is it a GOOD idea?

I think its nice behind the dpad as the axim is more compact that way...also there are no holes on the sides for a speaker like with most other ppcs

personally it is fine as i only use the speaker for beeps and such (alarms, etc.)

i use headphones or my Seidio Mount for music and GPS :)

It's definately not unique... Think iPaq h19XX, h4155...

The ipaq 36XX line had this design as well, and they were loud as H-E-L-L!

Hey brother, take an old set of headphones, cut the wires and cut back the insulation to expose the wire. THEN, solder normal RCA plugs and insulate with electric tape and plug it into your Axim+Mixer, running through your AMP/SPEAKERS! I bet I can blow all them phones away cuz. :)
