Works great, doesnt seem able to enter any serial codes, so might loose this after then 21 days.

BIS doesnt work yet either, but overall its one cool and functional little program.

Apparently WM2005 will let the Axim mount as a Mass Storage device, so wait until we get the update to have native support.

I've been begging for this since I moved from Palm to PPC! realy it's the only program I missed and now we finally have it. Now you can connect your PPC as a removable storage to any PC w/o the need of AS! MUST HAVE !
I think it should be on the front page' and stay there! It's not just another app - it changes the way one uses his or her pda!
Thank you softick (Amazing ' but I asked them to port their prog to ppc and they replied it probably would be ready by June. good to see it wasn't just talking!)

Has anyone tried it on a PC that has never had AS installed on it?

I just want to make sure - before I recommend it to someone else.

Thanks

Rob

The big challenge is that Pocket PC's -- no matter how you sync -- are limited to USB 1.1 speeds. That means that it would take many, many hours to synchronize even a gig of data. I have a 4 gig microdrive for my Axim, which allows me to use it as an MP3 player. The only way I've found to syncronize that much info is through a card reader, not through the Axim itself.

It would be very nice if they would implement USB 2.0 on these things. . . .

But you could always transfer files by WIFI...which is much quicker. This program is handy for us on the road that need to transfer files for presentations etc - we don't need that card reader anymore!

Maybe it's just me being a penny pinching Scotman, but why should I have to pay for something that should just happen with the OS?

I'm using Windows XP and Windows 2003SE so why did I have to buy Resco Explorer to stream my wifi files over the air? Why should I need a third party utility to let XP use my PPC as mass storage device?

Yet, they manage to put Windows Media Player in! Not something which you'd automatically look for in an OS...and for which there are free and better third party alternatives.

Hopefully WM5 will obviate the need for these third party "Tricks" which the OS should do without the user even realising it's anything special.

Okay, rant over - I'm off to boil that haggis I caught this morning.

Looks great also for us Axim users ;)

Speed seems to be fixed at 640 KB/s up and 768 KB/s down on a Axim X50v device:

See my post above.
1gig in half an hour.
USB2 would be great but this at least is a HUGE step in the right direction.

I got the software and installed it. No problems. I currently have my Axim hooked up to the USB port on a laptop that has never seen my Axim before and it works fine for a mass storage device. Meanwhile I have not left the ActiveSync umbrella of my Desktop using WiFi. I can still Sync with WiFi albeit the SD card doestn show up. I guess you can't hav everything but you can still sync and use it as a card reader at the same time. And actually I now have the Pocket PC hooked up to the USB on my Desktop while still maintaining my ActiveSync connection. This program seems to have even more capability for someone who needs to active sync and copy some big files at the same time. Only problem I have is that I have to take my Axim out of its case to do the USB connection wiht my Cradle which I am not fond of.
