Microdrive Battery Drainage - CF Any Better?

Hello. I understand that a Microdrive drains the battery, And according to tests that I read on this forum, it drains the battery quite a lot. Being I have an Hitachi 1GB Microdrive, this comes to be some concern to me. I found a good price on a 1GB CF card. Would you recommend getting the CF card in place of the microdrive, or does the CF card drain a sufficient amount of battery as well?

Thank you!

Since MD uses moving parts it will use more energy than static storage, so yes the 1gb CF static memory you have found will use less battery power.

However, I would recomend getting a 1gb SD card, as they are accessed faster then CF in general, and are ussally cheaper, keep your CF MD for other stuff.

I see the future like this:

CF for LARGE bulk storage. SD for fast access.

But let's be serious...read/write speeds of Axims in either case is pretty slow.

Not sure what you mean about axim access speed, never had a problem myself... this is a big known issue? (slow access that is)

I already do have a 1GB SD card and use both the SD and MD. It is just a matter of will the CF card use a noticable less amount of battery than the MD. As for the CF slot, I don't have anything that needs it besides the cards, yet.

Yes a CF memory card will use less power than a CF micro drive.

But considering you can get 2gb SD cards now which are faster then CF that may be your best route if power saving is your main concern.
