OK. I backed everything up and followed all of your steps and am now up to step #4. When I click on Explore in Active Sync I see an icon for the Axim. But when I go to Windows directory, I don't see the WirelessButton.exe. What am I doing wrong?

Double-click on PocketPC, double-click on Windows. Arrange icons by name and scroll down to the W's. If you can't see it, you may have to click on Tools/Folder Options. Click on View, and then select Show Hidden Files and Folders. You can then scroll down to the W's, and it should be there. Good luck.

BTW, I don't use the Wireless Button anyway. Instead I assign that button to the Landscape mode which I use frequently. I use the wireless icon in the taskbar on the lower left-hand corner of the screen when I need the wireless connection. I also set power options such that only the main power button will turn the Axim on. I am left-handed, and I often push the buttons on the side of the Axim by mistake. Perhaps that's why statistically, us left-handed folks don't live as long as our right-handed counterparts. Technology finishes us off first. :-)

Related and could be useful for some. Alex from Mobileread compiled a list of files that were changed or updated during the ROM upgrade.

If you restore settings after upgrade, will all of these be overwritten? Or just some of them?

I did not see where any of the new files were overwritten, but I did not do a thorough investigation. I scanned the list of files just after the upgrade, and then after the restore.
