Mad Nothing Works

This is starting to get old. I have a brand new (w/ A02) x50v, and can't get it to surf the web, even though it clearly shows that it is connected ia wifi. I've tried it at Panera, Starbucks. All show solid signal, and locked on, but PIE won't work. :realmad:

Also, I bought the Garmin GPS 10, and usually have had great experience with their products, but this unit will NOT recognize the 1.4GB af detailed maps I put on my CF microdrive. This two main reasons I bought this thing, and NEITHER work.

I've been reading all the posts, like keep the powersave OFF, and to soft reset, do the welcome screen, turn three times, touch something blue, blah blah.... If I knew it was gonna be such a pain in the rear to make something that should work as advertised out of the box...I might have bought something else!

Sorry for asking:

Are the WIFI spots OPEN? or do they require a key?

my x30mid i had a while back used to do this. It would be sparratic, it would work sometimes and not the next, so I "sold" it back to dell. I'm planning on getting an x50v along with the bt kb for college, so I hope mine doesn't do this!

Well, let me say that I got everything working finally. It just took a little patience. First, I swiched to NetFront. Pocket Internet Explorer flat out sucks. As posted before by others, I disabled the power save mode on the wifi settings screen. Lets say you walk into a Panera with free wifi. All you do is bring up the wifi setting screen (tap lower right corner of today screen). Turn it ON. Then, it should automatically find the wifi connection. Check the icon on the top bar. Tap it - it should say connected. Otherwise, tap the connections tab at the bottom, you can select it from a list. Then open Netfront. Give it a web address, and click the little netfront logo (thats the action button). Thats all I did. PIE still does NOT always work, Netfront does, and in real VGA mode - looks great. Also, I called Garmin and got my GPS working. It turns out I had to power it on and off several times to get it to initialize and read my detailed maps. Now it works every time as well, without the power on/off gyrations. Best of luck to you. I hope it helps.

I have the same problem. I have tried everything and if I do a hard reset every two to three months, it works great! Strange, isn't it.
I think Pocket Internet Explorer is the worst browser ever. I have never heard of Netfront. I will try that! Thanks for the help!!!!!
