Anyway to prevent programs from running in Startup ?
Is there any way to prevent the programs from starting in the Startup folder (other than moving them somewhere else) ?
This is good for trouble shooting.
Thanks.

The whole point of the Startup folder is to automatically start everything that located in it.
There's no way to boot the Axim without loading plugins etc.....so to answer your question, no.

Yes, you can disable plug-ins from starting upon a soft reset. MemMaid has a great start-up manager, even lets you disable startup items from the registry. I would check it out.

I suppose you can you a file explorer program and delete what you do not want from the Windows\StartUp folder. I'd be very careful.

You can unload the Plug ins via Start->Settings->Personal->Today->Items and uncheck the plug ins not needed. To disable start up programs, open file explorer and go to the folder Windows/StartUp/ and delete the ink files you don't want to load. I do not know of a way to work around it. MemMaid deletes the ink file in StartUp so it effectively works the same as deleting it file explorer.

I think what csc12345678 is looking for is something like safe boot on the pc. An on-the-fly way to avoid startup programs for troubleshooting. I don't know of any way to do that on a PPC.

That's what I've been doing. I don't delete them, just rename Startup to something else for that restart.
In Win2000, you can press a key (I think it's the left shift) and the programs in the Startup folder would not be loaded. I was wondering if there is any features in the PDA to do that ?

Ok... let me elaborate more.
Not on the x50 but on my previous Jornada 568 (and I cannot remember exactly the situation), I put a shortcut in the Start Menu to somewhere in the windows folder (like I said, I cannot remember exactly and I don't want to try again, very painful). I used Program Menu. This will recurse through the Start Menu to load the program names and folder. Guess what? The program went into a loop.
How in this case are you doing to delete or rename your Startup folder ?
If I can press a key and stop Program Menu being loaded, that would solve the problem.
