Power light...flashing amber even when off?

My battery dropped to around 17% and gave the warning about low power, and started flashing amber etc. I turned it off, and it the power light was still flashing amber. Is this right? And if so, isn't it just going to drain the battery even further?? And due to a recent experience of letting the battery go down to 1%, and having problems with the Axim recognising a fresh battery, and some message popping up about "press this envelope button" to save something or other, I know its a bad idea to drain the battery right down!

Is it an alarm or notification?

It flashed amber even when the unit was in suspend mode. As soon as I put my spare battery in, it stopped flashing. I guess its a notification light to say power is low. Just thought its weird it stays on after powering down, as the light will deplete the battery further. Just wondering if this is normal, as there's nothing in the manual about it.

Just be aware that the device is never completely off for a long time. Even when you're switching off, it maintains some activity, and depletes the battery slowly. A flashing light certainly adds to this depletion, but not by much. In fact the only moment the PDA is really off is during a reset.

I think the flashing light is designed that way (it's normal, it does the same with mine) just to warn you that the battery is almost empty, even when you think it's off (that means switching it off is NOT enough to keep the battery charged).

Well, the notification lights on the Axim are LEDs which use very little power, so it flashing at you isn't going to kill your battery that much faster...
