Ready for a new DELL X90 phone/pda
i dont know about you guys, but after seeing the products out in CEbit 2005, i think dell should come out with a smartphone/ppc that uses the new magneto os.... not to mention a faster processor.... man, i ve used my x30 to its full potential and find myself asking for more juice in the processor... namely more juice to run ps1 games in fpce...... so i have a few suggestions on the new product that dell should release:post your comments if i leave anything out
1. faster processor
2. built in qwerty keyboard
3. longer battery life
4. sleek design
5. better directional pad for gamers (face it we all use it for gaming sometime)
6. stable os
7. seamless phone and ppc integration
8. super graphics processor to rival the sony PSP
9. DELL's super reasonable prices
if DELL comes out with this super device then it will conquer not just the PPC market but also the ipod, nokia, nintendo, and sony markets !!!

Lets be honest here...
We have yet to see the benefit of the 624 mhz processor and the i2700 gpu in anything outside of demos.
Honestly, if this thing can pull off games like q3 arena with room to spare, then I am pretty sure that the processor is just fine where it is in this form factor.
I personally dont want to think about the next generation right now, as I just got my x50v, but if they were going to make another gen so soon... I'd say built in gprs/edge, plus 256 megs of internal memory. everything else could remain the same, and I would be in heaven.

why does everyone want gprs/edge, all the cool stuff is being released for Gprs and Edge, while hardly anything is released for CDMA EV-DO

....And what you need an integrated phone for? I, for example, actualy like my phone seprate...
I do think a better battery life would be nice, though.

Eric, mostly because it's almost impossible to get Verizon to carry anything on their EVDO network, whereas EDGE is pop in and go.

Unfortunately, battery life would be a tradeoff against size. The best way to do it, IMHO, would be to have a battery that latches onto the bottom of hte unit, so if you want an extended battery, you can just opt to make your unit taller, rather than "humpbacked"

... and what about a "CF battery"? You could double the AXIM authonomy and still can have a lot of storage in the SD slot.
I wonder nobody have had a thought in this, since you can find almost everything to connect through the CF slot.

My opinions to all of your ideas Skeet as they seem good but just think about this:
1. For a handheld 624mgh is pretty good especially with a 2700 graphics card in it.
2. That would make it too big for a phone if you add that don't you think.
3. Forget it! everyone would be killing their batteries no matter how long it would last.(Playing music, videos, games etc.)
4. Yeah a sleek design would be nice but then what about the qwerty keyboard situation, cant be to sleek with that.
5. I agree but then your sleekness is dwindling even more cause a bigger D pad is what makes games much easier to play.
6. Intergrating a phone, pda, mp3player, video player and video games. Some desktops OS are sometimes unstable playing windows media player alone.( WMP? forgive me for that so your good with six)
7. Utilization of a phone should be used strictly for that, putting these two together just makes no sense. I talk on my cell phone atleast 3 1/2 hours a day and weekends all day. I use my pda for atleast 5 hours a day and weekends maybe 4 hours total. All I need is to get into an emergency and need to use my cell phone and find out that the battery is dead from playing video poker or it is not operating as designed for handling it more fequently. If you drop it there goes your pda and your phone if your lucky, leave them seperate.
8. They still have not created any real decent games for the 2700 graphic card in the dell x50v, but atleast it is there so let see how it does when good software for it comes out if at all for that matter.

One thing I'd like to see is a thumb keyboard attachment or even a full sized keyboard attachment that had a built in battery pack to increase the axim's battery life. If you're gonna carry an extra bulky item, it might as well serve more than one purpose.
