Windows Mobile 2005 aka Mangeto, not a repeat thread
Hi you may all remember me right before the x50v release, bombarding you all with questions and speculation about the x50v and the WM 2005, just after 2003 SE was released. Well now the USB host capability doesn't matter to me know that I am the proud owner of the x50v and a wireless keyboard. My fears have grown to a more realistic realm concerning the upcoming version of Windows Mobile 2005 to be released in the summer presumably. The upgrade would be perfectly tailored to the x50v with the intel 2700g graphics accelerator since there is native support for direct3d. Also this upgrade makes the core components of the OS upgradable through Microsoft directly independent of the OEM, Dell in this case, ensuring future upgrades. All too often I've seen customers been denied updates before and I urge all of us to band together not after we are denied an upgrade, but pre-emptively in the form of a petition urging Dell to offer the upgrade. The petition could spur the Research and Development Department at Dell to start working on the upgrade so that we can have it as early as this summer. Thank you in antcipation of your support.
Basically, I agree with you, but I think we should wait and see what this Magneto is all about. This is a new OS version so I don't think I will be upgrading right away, for a few reasons: stability ( it still is a Microsoft product.... ), sofware updates etc. Should Dell offer a free upgrade for x50, I will probably upgrade for testing purposes , but not as a main os I'll be relying all my info on
I can understand that some people may not want the upgrade as there is little information about stability, performance, etc. In such endeavours it seems that strength ultimately lies in numbers and if everyone at aximsite.com could band together I am sure it will make Dell think twice before it makes a decision concerning the upgrade process. Even those of you who are not planning to make the upgrade your support would help fellow members who are interested in the upgrade. I'm not sure if you're reading this Chris, but is there a way to get an official site wide petition, perhaps a link to a corner of the site where support from members can be collected? This petition could remain active and members could join at their convenience over the course of several months leading to Magneto's release?

I think, I will support the petition.
BTW: Jukov, I agree and enjoy your signature

I was informed that there was going to be an upgrade path for the x50v when it becomes avail. No mention on whether it will have a cost associated with it.
I'll sign it. Seems like a good idea and there's no harm in trying.
