Running Cirond Winc on axim x50v...problems and cirond response

Here is the email i sent to cirond support concerning the problems that i had running their winc program on my x50v:

I am a registered user of pocket winc and have installed it to my new
dell axim x50v however when i look at available wireless networks, the
signal indicator just shows 0% and does not show the signal. If I
switch to display signal strength in db then i get values for signal
strength, however i do not wish to view the db strength but would like
the green/red visual indicator and % signal strength as i know pocket
winc should work out of the box. i am using the latest version of
pocket winc, version 2.0 not sure of the build # (purchased and
downloaded from handango last night so i assume it's the absolute
latest version). I noticed that on the aximsite.com forums, others
have had the same problem but i did not see any resolution posted. By
the way, i have tried installing pocket winc in both main memory and
built in storage on my axim x50v with the same problems.

I also have pocket winc running on an ipaq 4150 and the signal
strength indicator works perfectly so i am really anxious to get this
to work on my x50v since the axim is my primary pda.

We have not been able to fully test PocketWinc on the X50 series from Dell.
We have had some reports that while the software does work, allowing you to
connect to detected access points, the signal strength readings are showing
as 0%. This is something with how the Dell's software drivers have been
written. We have contacted Dell regarding this but they have made no effort
to help to resolve this issue.

PocketWinc should still detect and connect to the APs but the signal
strength will be unknown.

by the way, it took them over 3 days to get back to my initial inquiry...i even sent them an email twice before i got a response...way to long in my book

Go download the newest version, mine is version 2.0 build 986 and it works fine on my x50v. When I was using the older version I have the same problem as you.

hmmmmm i had downloaded the latest build a copy of days ago from handango.....maybe i should try again and verify whether handango indeed does have the latest build

or maybe there is another program that i have installed that interferes with the signal strength indicator on winc
