Axim wiped my Rail Ticket

Over the last few months i've suffered problems with my rail ticket not working in the ticket barriers as its unable to read the magnetic strip. After getting a couple of replacement tickets which sometimes only lasted a day, the ticket office employee joked if someone was attaching me with magnets.
The answer I discovered was that my axim was!!

When I purchased my axim I also bought Dell's Leather Axim case. I keep my axim in my top pocket and my rail tickets in my jacket pocket. Both on the same side.
Dell's case uses a small magnetic strip to keep the case shut. (Didn't cross my mind) This stip is also powerful enough to wipe magnetic stips in rail tickets etc.
Be aware anyone who also purchased this case that it should not be kept near anything thats sensitive to magnetic interference. Eg. Axim next to wallet(Credit cards), magnetic media, near your monitor or PC.
(Checked and SD cards not affected by magnets.(Case has SD card holder))

The magnet in the case is powerful enough to pick up culery, aerosol cans etc.

Guess I'll be getting a different case now.

Also, if you keep your axim in your bag, don't put it on the floor in the subways. In NYC the magnetic feild generated by the rails can wipe your electronics. My friends have had their ZIP disks wiped.

Me too! Well, a little different...

I got a Motorola Razr for Christmas. Originally I was keeping the tickets from the parking lot at the train station in the same pocket as the phone. (As I had done with my previous phone without any problem.)

After a couple of days of the ticket not working when I was trying to leave I put the ticket in a different pocket.

Now, no problem!
