motorola/verizon v710 bluetooth connect difficulty - help?

I have read many posts already about this connectivity from v710 to x50v using bluetooth and have followed instructions and troubleshooting in detail.
I have gone through this link to set up my bluetooth connection:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...aq+%2Btutorial

I even set the "turn flow control to none" feature as per the second post in that thread. And I have entered my 10 digit phone number in the form of xxxxxxxxxx@vzw3g.com (not 3q.com as some people have accidently typed it), and password as vzw.

Everything seems to have worked fine for setup as per the instructions in that post, followed step by step, and I have the v710 bluetooth turned "on" with the phone. I have tried to power cycle the phone.

However, when I use the x50 and say "connect" I get the following error message:

"Dialed: #777
Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documentation and try again."

I don't understand what I am doing wrong. When I go back to the settings mode of this x50v bluetooth connection, I notice that the area where I once tyed "vzw" for the password is now filled with **************** (16 stars). Even when I try to change the password back to "vzw" it later gets changed back to this other setting.

When I attempt to conect the phone does nothing at all, and the x50v merely returns the same error message as above.

Can anybody please help?
Thanks.

The link you posted is ok, but you have an X50v, so it's easy to get connected without all that work!
When you paired the X50 to the V710, did it create an entry in Bluetooth Manager? There should be one called "Motorola Phone: Dial-Up Network...", if not, pair the devices to get this entry
Double-tap to connect, or Tap-Hold and select Connect, you will have a Connection Box appear, select "New Connection..." and double-tap. Enter VZW in the Connection name and #777 in the Phone number, click ok and you'll now have the User name is xxxxxxxxxx@vzw3G.com, and password, vzw, no domain entry is required, click ok and you'll be connected.

There's no need to do any changes to any other connection settings, I leave mine on "Network"

After this, all you'll need to do is go into the Bluetooth Manager, double-tap on "Motorola Phone: Dial-Up Network..." and select VZW. enter your password if you chose not to save it, or enter it, saver it, and next time it'll connect with 1 less tap
Gary :)

I think I have bad news sir.. I have a x50v and a v710 as well and ran into the SAME problem... Mine started after I did a restore from sprite backup... very strange.. I had to do a hard reset to fix the problem... But at least it fixed it no?
If anyone else has any input on this I would love to hear it!

I dont know my settings, but the v50 and my 710 work very well together. Once initially paired, I dont have to do a single thing like turning on the BT on the phone or even open the phone to surf the internet. However, I dont have the data plan, so verison limits the data rate to 14.4!!! Has nothing to do with ISP, x50v, or BT, verizon limits it. If you don't get it working, I will get my phone and tell you my settings on the pda and phone towmorrow.

When did you last update your contract w/Verizon? Any contract signed since June, 2003 has the higher speed plan, look for something on you bill that says MOU, or minutes of use, newer plans call it Natl Enhanced Svc Access, if it says anything like this, you can use the phonenumber@vzw3G.com, with vzw as the password, there is no charge for this other than you minute allowance.
If you have a camera phone, then you should definitely have this service as it used the higher speed network to send the pictures; also, Get It Now also uses the higher speed.

I signed in June or July 2003, and note that my contract says NA-MOU, just like you reference. However, I could never get the NA to work. I did get the 14.4K working. You don't use the my number username for the 14.4K service. If I recall correctly, the username is 'qnc' and the password is 'qnc,' but these details are readily available over at Howard Forums.

I plan to get the V710 when my discount comes up in June or July, but have resigned myself to the fact that I will probably only be using the 14.4K service. I hope not, but I haven't had luck with the faster connection.

The "link" is actually your username to access the high speed network, and the password is vzw, so your setup would be:
Username: yourcellphonenumber@vzw3G.com
Password: vzw
See my earlier post for complete setup instructions.

Works every time, was even able to use it with my X5, a T720 & the Gomadic cable.

I have to call an ISP to get internet access. I have my x50 connect to the phone and the x50 diails the phone to my access phone number provided by my ISP which I pay 1 cent per minute to conect to. I dont understand the access part. How do you connect to the network? I.e like a home modem, my x50 dials a number to access a service provider to connect to the internet. Please explain to me like im ignorant about this, which I am. Are you just talking about accessing the internet via the phone with out the pda? I looked thourgh the CD and user manual that came with my 710 and it doesn't explain anything well. If you like, I can pm you insted of posting.

If you have Verizon & MOU (or any of the other codes they use for the high speed network, see previous posts), there's no need to dial an ISP, just follow the instructions in the 2nd post in this thread, just substitute yourcellphonenumber for xxxxxxxxxxxxx
This has nothing to do with the Mobile Web that Verizon offers through the phone itse, and you don't need to buy the software or cable, unless you want to use a laptop.

I don't see the benefit in doing this. Dialing 777 gets you online with a 100kbps connection, while metconnect.com is just a dial-up isp, so connection will be limited to 56kbps.
