HP mobile printing via Network to Lexmark??

Hi y'all, I'm totally stumped on this so I guess it's time to finally quit lurking.

Has anyone had any luck with HP mobile printing?

Ok, good.

What about HP mobile printing to a shared printer on your PC?
(by any of the following methods... over USB, over bluetooth to PC, over wireless to network)

Ok, good, good, what about HP mobile printing by any of those methods TO A LEXMARK PRINTER?? Specifically, a Lexmark E210 (laser).

Bonus points if you've done it from an X50v!!

Anyone, anyone??

My hunch is maybe it just can't be done without some special drivers or software or maybe just not at all. (Hahaha, maybe now someone out there will see it as a personal challenge and will feel compelled to help me solve the problem!)

Thanks for any and all suggestions, and even if nothing pans out, I'd like to say what an awesome forum this is. I've been glued to it for days now, thanks to you guys my laundry isn't getting done... :p

I have yet to get it to work printing to an HP PhotoSmart P1000, Deskjet 1220, a Photosmart 7550, and an Epson Photo Stylus R800. Each time I just get an error that it couldn't do it. I finally gave up and un-installed it. Would sure be handy to have, but I had zero luck with it, trying all sorts of options.

Lots of laser printers can pretend to be a HP laserjet. We did it at work to get some legacy apps to print on an NT domain.

If it was up to me I'd give you all the Bonus points you wanted :)

Sure, you can have the points... but I tried using the HP laserjet monochrome setting, connecting to \\mydesktop\lexmarke210, and at one point some data got sent and the printer made that "I'm about to print" sound... But nothing ever came out, not even the test page.

I figured maybe you just can't get the HP utility to send data in a format the Lexmark likes. Maybe that's not quite it...

One question for ya... Do you have the A02 ROM update installed? I haven't done that yet. (Actually, my Axim shipped at the very end of February, so I thought I would have it already... but no. I don't.)

Anyhow, thanks for the info. At least I know there's hope! :)

WooHoo, bonus points! :approve:
Yes, I am using A02. Also I am going to an older Lexmark Optra printer that may be closer to the HP monocrome than the 210 is.
I think I had to try a couple different drivers before it printed.
I had the same symptoms of starting to print when I was using the wrong drivers. But at least you know you are able to make it wiggle from your Axim

There was an article in the latest PocketPC Magazine about a fellow who ditched his desktop and notebook for his Pocket PC.

He couldn't print to a Canon with HP's software, so he went with PrintPocketCE, which apparently did the trick.
