NetFront browser & WM2003 2nd Ed disclaimer

I searched the site for references to the NetFront browser and it seems that a number of people are using NetFront successfully on the Axim x50v. Does anyone know why the disclaimer:

Update Description
NetFront v3.1 for PocketPC 2003 does not support Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition.

appears on the discription for purchase of NetFront v3.1 for PPC2003 with JV-Lite2 Rel1.00? This appears on the PocketGear web site.

I cant even find NetFront on the Handango web site. ANy info about this?

Lastly, I cant find the disclaimer on the Access Co. (the software developer of NetFront) web site either but I did see a reference to NetFront version 3.2. Any info about this?

Thanks for all the people who answer questions here on the site.

Thanks

The disclaimer is because you will have to use a hack to get Netfront working properly (not blury) with a VGA SE device. It is also so they won't have to provide any support to SE users. From what I have read, v3.2 won't be released for PPC's, just other devices like Symbian.

So is it SE_VGA or OZ_VGA? I really havent researched these yet? I also read a post where someone was using both. Why both?

FWIW, I've been using Netfront on my X50v almost completely without problems. The only problem is that in true VGA mode, when opening Netfront in landscape mode, the URL bar comes up huge, taking up too much space. I've seen the same complaint on HP boards. But when I open Netfront in portrait mode first, then switch to landscape, the URL bar is sized right, and all is good.

I just purchased this software. I can not find any documentation on it and software support doesn't really exist.
I haven't used it enough to know what I'm doing. I get the wrong sized blurry screens mentioned up above. When I load OZvga I get text so small I can barely read it with reading glasses. But what is even worst is that several of the icon's "end task etc"
are missing.
This thread is probably the closest thing to support.

Any one have a few pointers on this software?

You need to jigger with the view settings (zoom and text size, especially) and be willing to experiment, but assuming you're using an X50v, eventually you can get a nice, sharp rendition of the web page you want to view. Of course, it helps to be nearsighted, like me.

Here is the link to Access'es support page for Netfront 3.1, including FAQ and a BBS (Admittently, not the greatest support, especially with the English translations):

Netfront 3.1

Also note to access Netfront's runtime help, goto the start page on your PPC when Netfront is running and hit PPC help Icon.

As far as using this app with the x50 in VGA mode, I agree that this site is will probably provide the most information.

Also note that Access has confirmed that Version 3.2 DOES NOT support VGA mode anyway. They state that the next version (3.3?) will:

Contributor/ Bill Sorenson --(2005/05/23(Mon) 08:02:03)

[Quotation]
Will it support landscape mode with VGA soon? The title bar and address bar are way too big.

So it is supported under 2003 but not 2003SE?

Why wouldn't you want to support the most current version?
Maybe you should point out that there is no support for this product at the websites you sell your product at. Because the average person might see this:

NetFront v3.1 for Pocket PC 2003 with JV-Lite2 by ACCESS CO., LTD.
Microbrowser NetFront v3.1 for PPC2003 supports rich functions such as Smart-Fit rendering, Multi-Window and Auto-Cruise. Java applets run with JV-Lite2 VM as Java plug-in.

And think, yes it supports 2003 when in fact it only supports half of 2003.

If by "you", you mean KPDUTY, you've got the wrong guy. I've no affiliation with Netfront other than the $30.00US I spent many years ago to buy it.

I was simply answering the thread request.

(Feel free to go to the BBS and voice your concerns)
