x50v have issues with WMP and button assignments?

I've had several ipaq's over the years and this has always worked fine, but on my x50v I am unable to re-assign the buttons in Media Player... The calendar, contacts, mail, and home buttons retain their original funtions in WMP regardless of what I set them to in the WMP settings... I would like to set the home button to turn the LCD off while listening to music... regardless of what I put in the WMP settings though that button always takes me to the stupid home screen. Even going into the OS settings button assignments and reassigning that button from "home" to nothing, still doesn't let me assign it something in WMP. Any ideas? Am I missing something here? And BTW, in the WMP settings, some of the d-pad button settings are a "hold right" or "hold left" but holding the d-pad doesn't seem to do that function. It seems as if I press and hold left or right and then hit the center button while still holding left or right I can achieve the "left hold" or "right hold" function... but that doesn't seem like the intended method... Anybody?

I use betaplayer for movies, but like WMP for music... is there no fix for this? Has anybody complained to Dell on this one? I mean it's a piece of SW that's part of the OS that the hardware doesn't seem to support...

I've read somewhere that Dell somehow overlooked the required customization that was supposed to be done by device manufacturers to the version of WMP 10 provided by Microsoft. I somewhat believe it. Note, for instance, that two of the key assignments are to # and * -- keys that are present in a telephone device but not on the X50v.

I don't know whether Dell is planning an update for this or not.
