Well, maybe that is my problem. I'm trying to run this on a X50v. Oh well, I was hoping.

I got it working. :) I answered better in the post in the application forum.

What are you asking about? Option for full mode? Are you talking screen rotation? As for the high res. stuff, its not been tested on VGA devices yet, and isn't being designed for VGA yet.
I mean that it always renders the page in single column mode. Will there be an option to view it as it would appear on the desktop?

I tried to install from sD card, but almost immediately got "Error Could not connect to network." Tapped the "OK" icon in the corner of the Error dialog, and it went hidden behind the open Total Commander window that I had used to double tap on winembeded.exe. Had to see it in SwitcherBar to realize the error hadn't closed. Closed the Error, again, and waited several minutes, but nothing else happened. X30 then ran very slowly; had to soft reset. Tried it once more with TotalCC, then again from FileExplorer, same results.

I have 161 MB free on the card, with 19 MB free on the Storage side of the Memory slider, and 25 MB free on the Program side. Only about 7 MB free in BIS, which is presumably not enough to install Minimo into. Memory usage never changed, and there are no new entries in the Registry under minimo or Mozilla. Running SwitcherBar and MagicButton in the background.

How much memory will the final install occupy?

Any ideas on how to get it installed?

Jon, Minimo is designed to display the page in a single column. I do not believe this will change.

Please try to not run minmo w/ other applications during the first run. The first run Minimo must register files and can take up to a minute or more on an X30. Try running nothing, let minimo sit for a minute or so and see if it starts up. If it does then try slowly adding in other apps you talked about into the mix. Let me know if you find minimo doesn't get along w/ certain programs.

I tried again, still with no success. I did a soft-reset after removing all programs from the startup folder. I can't get the driver for my ThinkOutside BT keyboard to unload. I turned off all third party Today plugins. I even created a shortcut to winembed so that I wouldn't need to have File Explorer or Total Commander open.

The error message does not initially have the focus, and it takes 2 taps on the "OK" box to close it. The Start button works like a WinXP start button, scrolling up from the bottom of the screen until OK is hit the second time. Then it switches back to the top, but the device runs very slowly. No programs are running according to the Memory Settings... Running Programs tab, and memory usage is at the previous values. I've tried this several times, all with the same outcome. Waiting up to 5 minutes to clear the OK box, or clearing it immediately and waiting, nothing happens. The initialization process seems to stop with the error box, and does not continue.

I am currently on the road, but will try to get a screen shot if I can get the software to do so.

Is there any way to determine exactly what background processes are running (like in xP)?

Kikuchiyo,
What device are you running this on again?
Do you have a connection to the internet established before opening minimo?
Have you had minimo startup at least one time since installing it? Minimo registers files on the first run and this can be the cause of the 'slow device' you were describing.

Overall, I think I need more info to completly help you out. If you can tell me what you have on your device (program wise) we can start to narrow things down. It is likely an issue of minimo not getting along w/ some program installed.

Oh and to those who care, we are approaching the release of .005 which may include some nice features (we'll just have to see if they fall into this release or not) ;-)

Hmm ok, I'm a bit disappointed in that regards. Is Minimo a complete port of Gecko? Do you happen to know if the one column view is done in the rendering code or if its an application of a small device stylesheet?

I understand it not being a high priority, but I'm looking for something more like a PocketPC version of Firefox. A Netfront replacement. If you can point me to the answers of those questions, I may look into doing it myself sometime.

I do appreciate the work you're doing and think Minimo has great potential. Thanks!

Jon

I will have to look into the technical side of that question jon. I knew at a time how that was setup but I forget. I'll get back to you on that.

Right now Minimo is supports everything that gecko (firefox) supports with the exception of javascript and SVG support (although proof of concept SVG support has been done) http://tinderbox.mozilla.org/showbuilds.cgi?tree=MiniMo

Heck, in 005 Minimo will likely be the first (and only as far as I know) PPC browser that supports maps.google.com

The reason Minimo has remained single cloumn like it is is because side scrolling is one of the biggest issue's with pocket pc's and web browsing. Minimo is meant to fix that problem. I will look into the feasability of modifying this. If its possible you may be able to build a custom build of Minimo for yourself.

That's an exciting milestone.

The majority of the time I'd prefer to use it single column anyway. I guess I should wait and see just how effective it is. Some webpages just do not work very well in PIE single column mode, but that would be an unfair comparison this early on ;)

Thanks,

Jon

Er, did I forget to take off my dunce-cap this evening, or is there no way to get the keyboard to pop up to enter URLs or information into input boxes?

BTW, thanks for this... I'm a huge fan of Mozilla's work.
