They all have their quirks. If I was buying today I'd consider the Linksys WRT54G. Or if you Axim is your only wireless device just pick up a cheap $20 802.11b router.

Just get any 802.11b router should be fine. You might only stay away from the dlink di-514 (or is it 524?), as some members reported problems with it. And there really is no advantage to getting G router unless you're connecting in ad-hoc mode anywayz.

What does ad-hoc have to do with a G router? And if he has a bunch of other wireless devices then there may be some strong advantages to getting a G router.

I can confirm troubles with the D-Link DI-524. Very intermittent, couldn't hold a solid connection.
Do a Google for "Grey garbage box", and you'll find a huge discussion on problems with this router. :p
I couldn't get it to work properly with any of the firmware versions.
Which is why I have a nice Linksys WAG54G gateway on its way to me. I'll be getting it on Wednesday, and I'll let you know how I get on with it. :approve:
I just upgraded my netgear MR814 (802.11b) to a netgear WGR614 (802.11g) and have noticed an increase in the speed pages load on the Axim, even though it only connects with 802.11b.
Also I configure linksys wireless routers at work on a regular basis and netgear has a much better management interface. I would go with the netgear. Also you can pick up one from Staples for $29.99 after rebate.
Anyone has got the D-Link 624 ?? Was thinking about this one to couple with a DWL-650 PCMCIA card I'll get as well so my father's laptop can go wireless as well.

Yes, You are right. I was confused and thinking about only have 1 or 2 wireless devices. But is, if you have many wireless devices, a G router would be beneficial.

I myself have the DI-624, and the DWL-G650. But just so you know, the dlink drivers are garbage. For the DWL-G650, I'm using an Atheros driver and connection utility. You should be able to find it in the Dlink forums on dslreports.com Check my sig for wifi setup.

What about the future? I my made a mistake with my x5 of getting to much stuff just for it(serial keyboard, ect.). If the price is not to different get the G and you are ready for the next generation of pda's or other stuff you might buy.

With tech it changes too fast, they already have pre-N routers out and N will be finalized soon.
