Mad Outlook Web Access was working - now it's not!

I have had Outlook Web Access (OWA) working on my x50v in the past. I tried it again tonight, and can not open any emails. I have seen this posted as a common problem, and seen where others are using it without a problem.

Many of the postings I have been able to find seem to imply that the problem is with PIEs inability to open a pop-up window to display the message. However, I could have sworn that I was able to read messages before.

One thing I have noticed no is that after I put my username in on the title screen, I go STRAIGHT into my mailbox, without having to enter my username and password. I am pretty sure that I had to enter this info each time I logged in, back when it was working. Now that I think about it, it would HAVE to ask me my password unless it is stored in my Axim somewhere.

I have tried deleting cookies, but it still doesn't ask me to log in. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, but it is the only thing I can tell that is different.

Any would be much appreciated as I will be traveling again soon, and need to get to my email!

Thanks!

have you used a tweak to change the browser to ie6 by any chance? I did that and it won't work with with OWA. If that is what you did just change it back and it should work. At least it works for me.

I haven't made any tweaks. But it is good to hear that someone has it working. Have you made any other changes, or installed any other software that affects PIE?

I have read that Netfront might make a difference since it allows multiple windows, but also read other's who said they tried it and it didn't help.

I never could get PIE to open my Web Access email but NetFront works great. It would be nice if you didn't have to pay to get the mail but I've never figured out a way to get the free browser to do it.

I've got OWA access working on PPC-03. Come to think of it, I don't remember it prompting me for username and password. I'm gonna have to see either why that info is cached and where, or if I've got a great big gapping hole in my Exchange security.

Ensure your Exchange Admins have not turned off Outlook Mobile Access.

Can you log off of OWA? I press log off and the window comes up telling me to hit the close button to finish off the log off process. I do that, but it brings me right back into OWA. This is the reason I'm not prompted for username/password anymore because my device still have everything it needs....it has never logged off.

More research.

Is anyone that has OWA working, using plain old PIE with no extra add-ins? I did a hard reset last night, connected to my Wi-fi got into OWA (which asked for my password this time), but STILL could not pull up a message.

Me. Plain ol' out of the box PIE, no add-ins or plugins (that I am aware of).

Well, I have talked to our network administrator and found that we do have OMA, and am able to go that route. The only problem is that it must be formatted for cell phones, because the sender and the subject are chopped off after so many characters, even though there is plenty space left on my axim screen.

At least I can get my mail.

Strange though, why some people have OWA working and so many others have the same problem I do. Seems to imply there might be something with the settings on the Exchange servers that different people are using.

Are there any Exchange administrators out there could verify this? I wonder if the message opening in a pop-up window is a setting that is definable, such that people who have PIE working is because they are not trying to open the message in another window which PIE can't handle.

OWA has been the holy grail for me as well. A real pain!

Plain old PIE doesn't work, MultiIE doesn't work...the only browser I could get to work correctly (albeit it really slow) is Thunderhawk. I don't like the interface of Thunderhawk or the screen presntation 'fake' VGA....but it works until I can find an acceptable app. I won't buy an app like Netfront if the features are not all there in the trial version!

I just tried mine and it works fine on my x50v. I am an exchange admin and have several users that use their axim to access owa. We are on exchange 2003. You get the "reach client" (as opposed to the rich client that you get with ie6), but it does work.

Also, I have made no changes to the defaults for owa or oma. You should also be able to sync your email, contacts and calendar from the server over the web.

I think my company is only on Exchange 2000. I believe 2003 will be rolling out later this year.

That's not true at all. I'm an Exchange Admin running Exch2003. I've done nothing to customize PIE to get it to work, nor have I made any customizations to OWA for access control.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying here. When you want to view a message, it opens as part of a framed Window, not as a popup window (check the screen shot). This may just be a function of Exchange 2003. But if I get what you are saying, you can connect to OWA on PIE, but you cannot view your messages?

That is correct. I can connect to OWA, enter my user information, view my folders and list of messages, just not open a message to view it. I can click on the message and it gets highlighted, but nothing happens.

I found out that we are on Exchange 2000 if that is the difference. When I use OWA on my PC and open a message to read it, it opens in another window. The interface doesn't look anything like your screenshot.
