Optimizing battery and microdrive

I've been watching movies on my X50v lately (while flying) with BetaPlayer, and want to optimize battery usage. I'm looking for software to do three things:
1. Track my CPU speed over time. I'd like to see what CPU speed the "auto" setting keeps my CPU at when watching movies and listening to music. Something that shows me a graph over time, or even just produces a log. This will help me make informed tweaks.
2. Track microdrive access. I'd like to tweak BetaPlayer's microdrive mode and a utility that would keep track of when the microdrive is accessed would be really useful.
3. More control of CPU speed. I've found that if I encode my videos with Xvid and ogg sound that 208 Mhz gets too jerky, but 520 Mhz is overkill (too much battery drain). I'd like to try 400 Mhz, if possible, for playing videos. I'd also like the ability to set my CPU to 104 Mhz when playing music, since I suspect that the "auto" setting sometimes spikes my CPU usage when it really doesn't have to (such as when the microdrive is accessed). The built in "power saving" mode only goes down to 208 Mhz. I'm guessing the extra 104 Mhz will save me some battery.

If anyone knows of any software to do any or all of these things, please let me know!

I'm using a Hitachi 4GB microdrive, BTW.

Thanks,
Anodos

I'm curious how the Hitachi 4 GB is working for you. I'm looking for a higher capacity drive. I have a couple of the 2.2GB Magicstors and they work all right for playing back movies and mp3's but are pain to write to from the x50 itself. Also if you have to do a soft reset you have to remove and reinstall the drive. Do you experience either of these problems with the Hitachi unit?

FYI: the A03 Rom adds more CPU MHz Steppings, and might solve your problem, unless you already upgraded. the CPU does go down to 104 when in power saving mode, but NOTHING can be using the CPU pretty much.

I tried xcpu Scalar on my x50v, which i expected to be a great app for this... i was decived, it doesnt seems to work well, even when i put it at 108mhz in xcpu the actual mhz is 624. so I'll be using auto mode till i find another app like this that actually works.
