Partnership Rename

I am trying to setup my wifi so I can sync and have read one of the many posts here and they are all excellent for the newbie... the first thing I realized was I let the sync software setup the default partnership... Pocket_PC My Documents ... and the underscore is a problem so I understand...how do I change the name of the partnership and still keep all the info... I am really lost on this one.. earlier on today I created a new partership and called it DavesPPC but it messed up my sync and I had a ton of problems ..so went back to the original one.. any suggestions would be apprecicated.. I have been to the M'soft site and there isn't much there about this situation... thanks. Dave

If you didnt delete the old partnership the info ils still on your PC.

Create a new folder on your desktop and copy all the contents of the Pocket_PC My Documents folder into it. Now in activesync without your device docked click on File > Delete Partnership and delete Pocket_PC do not save the folder when given the chloice.

Go to the DavesPPC My Documents folder on your PC. Delete all the contents and replace it with the files and folders you saved on your desktop. Sync up your device. If you get any conflict messages click on resolve conflicts and let the computer change the info on your PPC.

Ok .. I followed your info... and I still have a folder on my desktop with all the files in it.. when I went to do an sync it recognized that my old partnership was gone and created a new one Pocket_PC with not chance to rename it .. so I let it sync and then deleted all the partnerships ... in the hopes the name screen would come up which it did not .. so now I have a partnership called Pocket_PC and would like to get a name without an _ in it... how do I do that... thanks for your help...I seem to be a bit lost right now. Dave delete the partnership without your device in the cradle. Do not save the old My Documents folders. You can open Activesync on your PC without the PPC connected by using Start > Programs on your PC.

If you don't get the opportunity to create a new partnership with a name you like this time reinstall Activesync and start fresh.

I think you need to change the name in your PDA. The default is Pocket_PC. I have the Axim 30 and you go to start, settings, about, then device ID. I think the path might be different in the X50? Change that name to what you want because that is the ID active sync uses.
I hope that is correct info.

Thank you very much .. yes that is correct the following is what you do to rename the PPC ..
On your PocketPC go to "Start | Settings | System | About | Device ID" and change the name of your
device to the new name. Then synchronize with your desktop...
It worked great .. now on to setting up my wifi to synce ..
