NEWER user needs assitance\advice with HARD Reset & MS Reader.....

Yes, it's me AGAIN! LOL! What can I say, Swimm's help was so helpful that now I fear I may be a little spoiled!!! LMBO!!

No seriouly, thanks so much for each of your inputs, they have not gone unappreciated & I have tried to spread the word as much as possible to other PCC user's...

I have had the Ax x50v about a week or ten days now, I come here at least twice a day (Oh alright, I admit it, sometimes I am here off & on all dang day, :hide: , lol) to read up on hints, advice, links, etc. and am pretty knowledgable now. A lot quicker than doing it on my own for SURE!!! :approve:

Now, I made a list based off research and links gathered from this site of software that i want to purchase and\or get off the net. Aside from Avantgo, I did not install any other software, I just wanted to really read up on all of it before I bought a lot of stuff that I did not need or want. One of the first things I decided to do was theme's, I noticed that by installing them to another dir besides the default that nless you grabbed the entire folder sometimes you only get a black or white out screens. i am learning as I go BUT, I guess ultimately I was hoping to be able to save those types of app's to my SD card, any suggestions on this? But to the point, I then decided to download the MS Reader.

I follwed the directions. I did have to move it once, I saved it to my SD card and it worked but for some reason I could not activate it. I thought this may be becuase when Ms trys to find it to recognize the info they need that they could not find it??? :realmad: Not sure what this dilemna is BUt, I removed properly and re-installed to the default doirectory. Went to activate it again, same thing. When I get to the activation screen it asks me to log in with my NET passport, which I already have and it just sits there. It wil not activate for some reason. Whats up here?

Now for the last issue. Once I get the schnizzle onm how to repair my MS reader I think I want to do a HARD reset, start over from scratch. then I want to go and download the A02 update, just so in case it does happen to me later and I have everything set up the way I want it, inevitably I will end upo needed it so.....may as well do it now when nothing is on there really to speak of. It seems pretty simple, press and hold the power button the hit the back restet btton and voila', AM I THEN HARD RESET? Ithink so but now do I downlaod the A02 before I install my blue comanion disk or do I install the Pocket Pc 2003 SE THEN go install the A02? Really need that sequnce, i am not sure I could downlaod it without installing the OS but......these have proven to be a bit different thasn a reg PC. Not a lot, but enough to make me for !!!!!


So, bottom line:

Vailidate Hard Set procedure.

MUST I save EVERYTHING & new software title to the built in storage in order for it to run properly?

Which order do I install the OS and A02?

Suggestions\instructions on activating the Micrsoft Reader? If not, one that is really as reliable as MS and can do the same or MORE for the same price????


Oh yes, I am realy liking this x50miox thing I see posted here and want to download it. Main simple just to be sure typr of question....Do I install it to the main built in storage for it to work or can I install it on my SD card?

If you got your X50v just ten days ago, you should probably already have the A02 update. Go to Start -> Settings -> System tab -> System Information. It should state under ROM version.

If you already have it, just do a hard reset by pressing the on/off key and reset button at the same time.

If you are going to be doing a hard reset anyway, I would just wait to activate MS Reader. As far as activating the reader, you need to install it to the default location. Then proceed with the activation and then you can move the reader. I currently have mine in BIS.

Thank you for the kind words of wisdom, I am off the rest of the day :hide: to get this thing fixed the way I need it, :rolling: LOL!!!! I hope to have the reader up and working today, I bought so many of these e-books and cant read them, aarrrggghhhh. It looks as if they have the same typeo freader for my desktop also, am I correct, also free?

I am still curious to the mix add-on, and what exactly it does. Should this be saved in the BIS as well? Makes sense since I will not be able to use it if I save to SD card, right? OIr will it still work since it will be in sys files?
