Finally got it~

Alright it has finally arrived, and its charging on the cradle.
I've played with it a bit just to drain the battery a bit more, and there's a few things I'd liek to ask.

I intend to remove WM and replace it with Beta, as well as get rid of that Odyssey client (http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=76005)

1) Can you use the pda while its charing on the cradle (battery inside pda)

2) What is this VGA_oz and VGA_se .. what are they what do they do which one is better??

3) if I have a 1gig cf adn a 1 gig sd, in the memory setting should I move the slider all teh way to program's end?

4) how do I turn it off? holding it doens't work (turns on when screen is tapped) and tapping teh butotn doesn't work (turns on when screen is tapped)

Thanks, I can't wait for it to start using it.

First.. Welcome to the Site..

1. Yes you can.
2. these are 3rd Party True VGA hacks. I prefere OZVGA myself.. They will allow the x50v to run in true VGA mode and utilize teh full 480x640 resolution.
3. I use the SD for apps and documents and the CF for media stuff. hope that helps.
4. just touch the power button once. there is No OFF really. more like Hibernate is what I would call it.

FYI WM and Odysee are in memory and cant be removed.. for the space saved its not worth it to me..

welcome to the site, and have fun with your new toy. Check out the links in my signature, or in "view my PDA" for more helpful information.

As for the "memory slider" you mention, that only applies to the Main Memory, not the storage cards. Leave it in the center, or slightly shifted to the left, to leave more available space to run programs.

The memory slider will adjust itself as needed for the most part. You don't have to do anythign with it. Load most of your programs in either the cf or sd cards or you can put some stuff that you will need on the built in storage (bis). Only load programs into main memory that require it.. they will let you know if they do when you install them but somtimes they just won't work when installed to cf or sd. in that case just uninstall them and try it in main to see if that works. And i can't say enough about backups. even if you only use the one that is resident on the pda, use it a LOT! Some even use it each time they install a new program so they can go back quickly. it's not a bad idea and only takes a minute or so. backup to your sd or cf card.

Thanks for the tip, I'm having a problem logging into MSN Instant Messenger. It gives me the "Service Unavailable" error.
I can browse the net and such using IE.

Shin-RA, there is a very nice PDA store called Softpockets, in TO. Check out their website. You can get an aximsite discount from them. Check out the Shopping/discount tab up top.
