It works pretty well. But, you have to have a pretty good WiFi connection or it starts getting pretty bad quality.

I also up the Axim's processor to full speed when using it. I've used it with a bluetooth headset (SE HBH-60) and just earbuds (using the internal mike) and just holding it to my head with the mike at my mouth and the D-pad at my ear.

I read a review on Tom's Hardware guide that gave a good review from Skype user to Skype user. The Skypeout service didn't do as well. They said that it was poor quality, but will surely improve. They did say you could hold a conversation, but the quality was worse than a cell phone.

I found it to be good enough for calls with in the US. But as soon as your dial international phone numbers I have experienced quite a number of problems... in addition when I tired to use it in paris to dial into the US it wasn't up to par with a phone card. I currently use it with my bluetooth headset.

Thanks , I'm about to sign up for it.

One thing is not very clear on Skype site is the phone # format
Is it country code and a # (in US)?

To dial a US phone, use a "+1" in front of the 10 digit phone number.

So, to call 770-555-1212, you would dial:
+17705551212

The worst case, if you don't like it, is you are only out 10 euros. That's why I was willing to try it.

When I run VOIP software (SJ Phone) on my x50v over Wifi it helps a lot to move the processor to full speed rather then "auto" and disable wifi power saving. Voice stuff w/ wifi can take a little extra processing power so give this a shot with Skype if you're having glitches.

I use my broadvoice voip acct and sjlabs sjphone. it works great. as long as all the bandwidth isnt being used downloading stuff. I have wifi at work and its like taking my home phone with me. i even lowered my cell plan today b/c i dont use it as much anymore. btw, i experimented with tethering my sprint vision phone to my laptop and using it as an internet connection and actually can make calls from my laptop softphone! the quality sucks, but if data rates get faster, i may be able to lower my cell to a $20 plan and use unlimited vision to make calls basically for free. i love this voip stuff. gotta have a headset for sure though.

i used skype with my nokia BT headset and called someone on who's on a 56kbps dialup connection. there was abit of lag and the static in the background was pretty high. not sure if it is the axim's fault or the BT headset's fault.

btw the new skype version says it works with VGA, i tot it meant true VGA but apparently i m wrong. still have skype using up 1/4 of the screen only
