Device lose the screen alignment

New problem arose in the x50v.

With no special reason, the device does not follow my taps correctly.

I tap in a certain position, and it choose the menu which relies 2-4 mm below (or above the tap position)

I went ofcourse to the screen alignment setup screen.
Sometimes I succeed and it's going back just fine, in other times I find myself in ana endless loop, since the device doesn't understand the postion I am tapping on.

I made Hard Reset, and the problem persists.

Is it hardware problem rather than software one.

Any suggestions?

If you don't have a screen protector on, it's a good bet there's a little speck of something stuck under the edge of the screen,
....a grain of sand, or even a cookie crumb......

Take a business card and run it around the edge of the screen with the corner tucked up under the bezel and flick towards the center occasionally.

The deveice I am using is not mine.
I just get it for sometime for evaluation. (whixh is so so up to now)

That's why the screen doesn't have screen protector.
On the other hand, I keep it very clean and shine.

No cookies, no bugs no nothing...

Seems to me there's a lot of talk about screen alignment problems lately. I currently have a boxwave crystal installed and I have to realign constantly. By constantly I realign about 3-4 times a day. I came up with a new way to test screen alignment. At least I think it's new. Start up any drawing or scratch pad program and simply draw straight lines across the screen horizontally and vertically or vertically. Try it with light medium and then heavy pressure. Also just try tapping dotted lines across the screen also. You might be surprised. My x50v didn't do very well especially in the upper left corner. Currently I'm not able to remove the screen protection nor can I post the pix of my tests but if someelse is able to do this lets take a look and we'll compare notes.

how about that software you installed lately (you've mentioned it in the memory thread...) try to remove and reinstall it. I'd say this - because we do have a localization sofware, it may create conflicts w/ different progs. For example, using a localization, I can't see the bottom bar w/ Wisbar... try uninstalling theactivation file from Eyron ( you know - removing the "V" - > aply -> soft reset) see if there is any change.
Good luck , dude

I tried this and it followed my somewhat shaky hand perfectly. I don't remember the last time I have had to align, maybe the last hard reset a month or so ago. Also I am using a screen protector and if i had to bet, there is plenty of dirt under the edge of the screen. my luck I guess.

I work for state government and had an Axim X5 for the past couple of years. I was very excited when my supervisor told me I could upgrade to an Axim x50v. From that day forth my experience with dell was absolutely a nightmare and still hasn't ended (almost a month after recieving my second replacement.) With the first one the screen seemed a bit quirky right out of the box, putting me through the alignment sequence several times (compared to my x5 which I may have aligned 10 times the whole 2 and a half years that I owned it I found this to be quirky.) To make a very long story short it got progressively worse and I tried literally everything (with boxwave (the clear ones screen protectors) without any at all etc etc.) Went through many hard resets and reinstalls of much software. The screen was bad. I called dell.........they sent me a new one. This one worked absolutely beautifully for about three days with screen protector without screen protector etc. Then alas, it started to do the same thing, but to an even greater extent! After many days dealing with cleaning, trying different configs, hard resets, etc. I am now on my second replacement and it is working absolutely perfectly! Have had the boxwave screen protector on it the whole time and no problems at all after 2 1/2 weeks. Love the x50v now that it doesn't make me feel retarded when I'm trying to input simple commands! The other guy was right when he was talking about the popping sound when you press the AX area of AXIM on the top. My first one definately seemed alot better for a while when I used this technique. I just wanted to share this story with you guys because if it were not for this site I would probably still be thinking I was crazy, and somehow trying to calibrate myself to a bad screen! It seems obvious to me from reading the posts on here and from my own nightmare experience with my first 2 x50v's that dell may have gotten ahold of some bad screens. Sorry for poor structure on this post but I was in a big hurry and at least wanted to share my story because I know how frustrating a bad screen can be!

I received my Axim on Tuesday April 5th and yesterday I started having this problem. I just did the Dell chat thing and all they really had me do was a damn hard reset. I told him that I already soft reset and hard resetted several times but I played the game with him. After messing around with and opening up notes like warone suggested and the upper part of my screen when I am drawing a straight line across looks like a heart beat monitor when I get to the right side of the screen. This screen is definatly bad. I'll be calling them tomorrow at work to get this replaced.
My last PDA a jornada 568 I performed the screen alignment on it when I did a hard reset and that was about it.
