If you want to wake up to music, but don't want to pay for an mp3 player with that feature, you can try this trick. Set the alarm on your pocket pc to go off at the desired time, then launch windows media player and start the song or playlist you want to wake up to. Now just shut off your Axim while its playing. When the alarm triggers the Axim to turn on the music will start playing again.
It does wake up at midnight. I usually go to bed past that time every night anyway. Also, Wouldn't leaving a song playing when it is turned off use more battery power that just having it off? (ofcourse you can just leave it in its cradle overnight)
Wakeup and MORE with MORTPLAYER. It's free and sounds so good, better than all players out there. Just takes time to learn to use it well. 40thfloor mp3 player is the only one that beats this player in sound quality.
I'm gonna go with the MortPlayer solution. What a great piece of software, it is LOADED with features and makes you feel as if you are using a hardware mp3 player.

Thanks for the flowers, but the playback routines are exactly those of GSPlayer (MortPlayer 3.2 has those of GSPlayer 2.15; the current developement state includes those of GSPlayer 2.22, and even supports the GSPlayer plugins). Thus, there can't be any big difference in sound quality... ;)
I think it's simply a matter of taste which player you use. I think, the main advantage of MortPlayer is that it "makes you feel as if you are using a hardware mp3 player" (you don't need to create/update playlists, and the changer mode allows lots of files, "skip to next CD", etc.).
i just take sections of mp3's and convert, then you can save as WAV. and put it in the windows folder of the device. it should show up in the choices for alarms then so you can use it for reminders, wakeup etc...

You could but that would use up a lot of precious main memory.
