Worried Backup rom update

My question is if I had the backup of someone else's x50v in a different language, using the process for language switching, would it perform in the same manner as if you did it by a rom update from dell?

Hmm

And just for point of reference, I mean a rom backup and not an activesync or sprite system information backup...

If you want to restore using someone else's rom backup, you would need to remove the encryption first. Hfade posted a tool a while ago which lets you do just that. You can download it here: AximUpdate.zip

Then you would have to run ris2ris0 on your friend's rom backup and use the restore utility from dell to restore the hacked .ris file.

The .zip file above also contains a hacked aximupdate.exe file that let's you continue with the English rom update irregardless of the PDA's initial language. Use this only if you want to change from any other language to English and don't have your friend's rom backup, otherwise use the previous method. I tried this only on an X50v, so use it at your own discretion for any other models.

Worried

i'm hoping this is ok to post here, but i'm pretty desperate as it is. Can anyone help me get a rom update in preferrably japanese, but Chinese is also ok, from wither the dell website or from a rom backup on a home system. I keep asking dell for help but they keep telling me to ask MS for a rom update (that shows exactly how much the tech's know about the system) or buy a new axim from Japan (because the dell doesn't communicate with itself internationally.)An x50v from for either of those languages would solve all my problems. Please help a floundering student in trouble...
