Rogers for using my BT phone as a modem to connect to an ISP

Hi,
I recieved my x50v a little while ago and love it! This forum is an amazing resource for newbies like myself :approve: Thanks for all your help.
I am now ready to connect my Axim to the web via my Nokia BT phone but don't quite understand all the details. Since I'm in the Toronto area, I'm pretty much restricted to Rogers. Do I need a data plan with them ($3 to 12/month depending on package) if I just want to connect to my ISP? I'm assuming GPRS is required. If anyone has already set this up with a Rogers account, I'd really appreciate some guidance. Also, Is the speed reasonable?
Thanks!
KK

Welcome to Aximsite!

If you want to use your Rogers phone to connect to your Axim, you will need to subscribe to a data plan. Rogers unfortunately does not allow you to use their voice plan to dial up to ISPs.

I use GPRS with them and speeds are not amazing, but tolerable. It helps to have a phone with EDGE capability, which I have.

You mentioned you're limited to Rogers - what about Fido?
