Seriously...any suggestions?

Ever since in updated to the AO2 rom, my x50v does not let me know when I have a new email message. It won't make a sound, nor will it put up a message telling me that I have a new message. I called tech support and they went through everthing over the phone (including a hard reset) and decided to send me a replacement. The replacement came and it is having the same EXACT problem. I am connecting via wifi and the messages come through with no problem, but if I am in another program, tne only way I call tell if I have a new message is if I go the Today screen or to the messaging application. Does ANYONE have an idea on how to fix this? I haven't called tech support about the replacement yet, but I know they are just going to send me another one. I know it isn't a huge deal that the email notification isn't working, but I would like to get this resolved. Please help.

Is it WiFi with a POP3 mail account no PC involved or WiFi to a PC you are syncing to?
