Help with X50V WM2003 password screen!

OK I got an X50V a few weeks ago.
It started to goof up a little while after I switched it to landscape mode.
First the alignment never seemed to reset properly.
Then I switched back to portrait mode and still the alignment wouldn't track correctly.
Finally I did a soft boot.
At this point the password screen comes up.
The problem is that my password is in the P@ssw0rd format with caps, special characters, and numbers.
The default keyboard showing up does not have a SHIFT key to get capital letters!(The bottom left key is Ctl)
I tried the Letter Recognizer but no luck.
Now after trying to get the password entered the touch screen seems to be crapping out and it won't respond to the stylus when I hit OK or ENTER.
This is working about as good as WIN98!
I expected better. :(

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

MARK

Above Ctl is au (which switches to foreign language characters?)
and above that is Tb and then 123 in the top left corner.
There is no Shift key anywhere that I can find.
If the Options tab would work there is a way to switch keyboards I think.

I installed ActiveSync but it just stays on the Connecting... screen and never connects.
It appears that the password screen is blocking it?
Maybe the OS is just having a Windows bad day?

At this point I am thinking that a hard boot is going to be necessary.
That will erase any stored data.
If it is avoidable that would be great.

On the good side there is not much data in my Axim because I have been slow to migrate to it.

Success!

I got past the password screen with a combination of Letter Recognizer characters and Keyboard characters.
This was tried a few times early on but no luck...I assumed it was not going to work.
Now it's time to try ActiveSync!

For future reference or for others that have a similar problem, you can enter 'upper case' items from the keyboard without a shift key by placing the stylus point on the proper key and sliding it up.

Thus, for the & symbol, you'd put the stylus on the 7 and move the point up. Try it in a work document. Of course, if you don't remember where all the special characters are, you may need a PC's keyboard for reference.

Having trouble getting an ActiveSync connection to work...

As far as the keyboard goes it looks like when the USE GESTURES option is selected then SHIFT and some of the other keyboard keys disappear so it looks like I selected that accidentally or whatever.

Cool.
Thanks for the tip on using gestures!
I kind of understood how they work but never actually tried using them.

Now if I could only get ActiveSync to work.
Sadly my computer at home is still running WIN98SE...I wonder if this is part of the problem?
