A03 Issue - Lost appointment notes
Greetings,
Patched to A03 last night, did hard reset, but found consistently losing notes on 1 appointment. Haven't figured out trigger other than time i.e. 1 appointment had notes last night but gone 1st thing this AM.
Restored 2x this morning after lost notes on same appoint. Restore was from A03 data to A03, not A02 -> A03. Other appointments with notes are ok so far. At same time as lost notes, keyboard would launch but couldn't enter text in any input field. Solution was hard reset and restore and all is well then after given time frame, the notes on same appointment vanishes.
Will try creating new appointment and watch closely.
Thank goodness for backups.
Thoughts please...
Thanks,
Dave
P.S. No additional software installed (lean + mean)

i know this is stupid but i just realized if you upgrade the rom and dont restorer from a back up you lose all your appointments, contacts and tasks?
is it alright just to do a pim restore??
Can the standard dell utility do this.
[sorry for jackin your thread]

For me, A02 and A03, just a sync restored all data after ROM patch which I believe is as per design. Backups (Both PDA, Sync PC) are in case something goes south.
I had to do a hard reset on the road and wished I had a backup on PDA but had to wait to sync with PC to get all data back - lesson learned. I now have an SD card for backups alone; nothing else.
Hope this helps.
Dave
P.S. Thinking thread is dead as doesn't appears others experienced same. Also my appointments have been ok for 4+ hours ....tic tic tic (timeframe to lose notes was much less this morning and it's possible I haven't been able to reproduce the process to remove the messages... wondered if it had something to do with dragging and dropping appointments in weekly calendar view but nada)

It appeared to me that my appointments were lost as well after the A03 update... Until I realized that my ppc thought it was Febuary 2004 :) I set the correct time and boom, all the appointments were back!

I did a backup for just PIM and another for alldata. I experienced the lost of some appointment after restoration from alldata backup. I did a restore from the PIM backup and it is back. The dell backup seems to be enough.
Somehow after the upgrade, the pda date is Feb 2004. This will affect the display of correct information.

Appointment - Lost Notes Update...... #2
Just an update.....
1. Happened again....I lost the appointment notes at 4:30PM this afternoon (roughly 4.5 hours after last restore and minimal pda use in said hours). I did a soft reset and appointment notes returned, yes they returned and I didn't have to restore data. All is well but the clock starts again. (I have sneaking suspicion the soft reset may clear issue but stay tuned to this thread...will update if good/bad.)
1b. When I lose the appointment notes, all calendar text entry is awry. Keyboard is present but no cursor and can tap kboard but no output. I can enter Outlook notes w/o problem and general text entry appears ok (emails, excel, word etc) and the calendar functions well but NO text entry within calendar appoinments (calendar subjects, calendar location etc) or attached appointment notes.
2. Just to clarify the issue as unsure if same problem as others are experiecing in this thread. It appears all my appointments are intact in my X50V but the issue at hand is the notes attached to the appointments are blank/hidden. "Note" tab is present but blank.
Thanks!
Dave

I too noticed an appointment which had lost its notes. I don't often use notes with appointments but this should be noted (don't mind the pun) nonetheless.

Steps to Reproduce Missing Notes - Here's How
Hi all... finally got process down to reproduce error consistently.
1. Hard Reset - just to be anal and start with clean slate (feel free to omit and proceed to step #2)
2. Create calendar appointment w/ note
3. Use switcher bar to "Exit All Programs"
4. Appointment is ok but note is gone
See pics below.
1.jpg - A03 confirmation
2.jpg - Calendar Appointment w/ Note
3.jpg - Missing Note after Switcher Exit All Programs
Suggestions where to go from here????
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I realised that not all notes are lost. I had 2 appointments which had notes, only one vanished. What caused it, I've no idea. It didn't affect the appointment itself. I'm still at a lost, Dave.

I agree Crayon...other appointment notes are just fine... I wonder if it's the notes which were changed since last "Exit All Programs"
Thanks... Dave

Hi,
Looking for suggestions as how to handle next steps with appointments which lose their attached notes as this is definitely an issue for yours truly...
1. Revert to A02 (give up A03).
2. Stay with A03 and call Dell tech support (Yikes!). What will Dell do, issue RMA# and I have to return it and possibly lose PDA for who knows how long?
3. Other option???
Thoughts welcome...
Thanks in advance
Dave

What other software are you running? Maybe something is causing a conflict?
BTW: I am testing this with my PDA now.
Cheers

Hi Adrian,
I don't run any other software just for this reason. Grrr!
Thanks!
Dave
P.S. I may give the A03 install another go.

Yep I am not having any issues that you describe yet... I will keep my eye out for it though...
Only issue I have had is that I have had to perform 2 software resets when 2 programs (Resco Picture Viewer and Resco File Explorer) crashed on opening... seems ok now though.
Only thing I can think of for your issue is to check the active sync settings for the calander???
Cheers
