Ao3 Update MIGHT Go Wrong! BUGGY XP!!!

Hi, all!
1) Unpacked AO3 update
2) I connected Axim x50v to computer via Activesync
3) Ran AximUpdate, it asked me wheather I want to update or save my current (AO2) ROM
4) I saved my current ROM (It took about 3-5 min or so) - it is one file "AximX50v_A02EN.RIS"
4)Then I was back to update menu
5) AximUpdate recognized my current AO2 version and showed that it would change it to AO3 ( in red letters)
6) I clicked OK, then the update prosedure started and my Axim had "Wait for USB to be ready ..." on the screen
7) THEN SUDDENLY WINDOWS XP SAYS "UNKNOWN USB DEVICE" AND TRIES TO FIND A DRIVER FOR IT

NOW MY AXIM ONLY SHOWS "Wait for USB to be ready ..." and when I put it in the cradle I hear that it connects ( computer plays a sound), but ACTIVESYNC IS NOT ACTIVE (GREY)

What should I do?

Maybe you should try to reset to the A02 rom and try again...

When you downloaded the update the file asks to be unzipped to a certain directory, have you used this default directory or unzipped to a different one?

Did you have your cradle connected through a USB hub? If so, try connecting straight to the motherboard and try it. Also, the update supposedly only works on XP.

Only XP, nah the update work with win2k. If you have win98 then you'd be SOL.

Thanks for quick rsponses guys

Although I disabled everything (Anti-Virus programms, agents, etc),buggy windows XP FOR UNKNOWN REASONS ALTHOUGH LUCKILY FOR ME conflicted with the Activesinc ( It was the only thing that was running that time, though) and the Aximupdate didn't start loading the new ROM image.

I took the battery off for a minute, hard reseted Axim, and tried again.

The second time everything was fine, I updated it to AO3

That's why I love handhelds - something goes terribly wrong just hard reset and you're back in business

Well, when i ended up trying to install A03 it completely locked up my Axim. Tried a hard reset, and it would only go to the screen that tells you to press button to erase device. Could not go any further even if i take out the battery for a few min. Dell had to replace, which i got today, unfortunately with A01. Not sure if i have the guts to try again.

You can completely crash the rom so that it wont boot....

Has anyone tried the emergency boot loader though?
