Give Me Some Freakin Help!!

Usually this stuff is easy, however when I was just about to start the ROM update, after I already saved the ROM image, my Activesync disconnected for some reason (IT NEVER DOES THAT) and I'm left with the ROM Update Utility A00 on my Axim screen and I don't want to take it out of the cradle and screw with it, what do I do?

ANY HELP would be good at this point? Do I take the Axim off the cradle?

Okay, took it off and gave a reset, but still, need to figure it out, everytime I try to install ROM A03, Activesync quits on me and I can't install the new ROM, what do I do? I'm usually good with this stuff, but it ain't working.

Do you use any firewall, antispyware, Norton antivirus programs with you PC? If so, turn off all of them before the ROM upgrade.

Good luck!

I've been having that type of stuff happen with my firewall, antispyware, but I'm shut them all off. Would Bit Torrent have anything to do with it? Hmm, I might try one more thing... Thanks a bunch for the suggestion, I really appreciate your help.

I also had the same problem...it just waits and waits...I need to do a hard reset. (I think the problem was the admin rights to my computer or could be the partnership)

Here is what I did:
I installed active sync 3.8 on a different computer...connected as guest and rerun the A03 update program.
note: Active sync will disconnect and the program will connect directly thru the USB port.

That's the only problem, whenever the update starts, my Activesync quits... does anyone know why?

I had the same thing happen, though the Update Utility was A01 (x50v) I think? I could ne wrong.

I even was asked by Windows 2000 that a driver was being installed "Unknown" and would I like to continue to install it? Seemed like it was trying to install the x50v USB device drivers or something? Like when I connected it to the machine for the first time it said "Del Axim USB device". This was a guest connection, as I have never been able to upgrade on my XP box.

So the install sat there "Waiting for USB connect...". (after the rom backup was successful)

I stopped it, did a hard reset.

Then tried again, this time is disconnected from ActiveSync, BUT continued to perform the upgrade successfully :)

Update kills running AS, 'cause it needs a direct access to device over USB and this is not allowed when AS is running...

So don't worry that updates do that...

Activesync does not need to be running when you do a rom update.

Isuggest you closes it as it says to close all programs. thats what i did and it worked fine.

This is normal case while you upgrade the ROM. Ignore it and just continue the upgrade.

I installed today and after several disconnects, I figured it may be the the auto sleep mode on my PC. On the last try I just moved the mouse every few minutes and my it stayed connected. I got it updated.
