Once more, then I give up

It could be the way that I am asking the question, but I've tried repeated times in this Forum for an answer to this, but haven't gotten one. It could be my fault. It coult be that there is no answer.

Is it possible to save messages that I send from the Axim x50v in a Sent mail file on the Axim itself. I go to Messaging, Tools, Options, and click "Keep copy of sent mail in Sent folder. But then when I go to look in the Sent items folder, it is empty.

Is there a way to save sent items to the Axim itself, or will they only show up on my laptop when I sync?

Thanks.

Doesn't look like it works - have just tried it myself (I don't actually sync Inbox - what's the point of only being able to send email when I am back at my desk?) but sent items do appear in the desktop Outlook sent items folder but not in the PocketPC one.

Why we can't buy these things with just the Operating System on is beyond me....Inbox, Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, File Manager, etc....none of them ar worth the space they take up!

When I use the Axim to send email via my POP account it will save the message. If I use "Outlook Email" it appears as though that's just a conduit to Outlook. So everything is passed on to Outlook when it syncs.

Have you made any changes to the default settings anywhere? What version of Outlook and Activesync are you using?

That seems to be the case here....makes Pocket Inbox / Messaging useless as far as I can see.

Non computer-literate users (in my experience) tend to leave all their incoming email in the Inbox (what's a filter?) and leave all their sent items in Sent Items. They like that as they know where everything is....even if it does take an age to find anything. They are half lucky in that AS will sync all their received email for them.

Myself....I like sub-folders in my Inbox and filters to send email direct to those folders. I like to store my replies with the received email. AS only sync's Inbox....so all I get to take out of the office is the un-filtered (ie, spam) email.....useless!

Okay - after some testing I have found:

If you use Messaging/Pocket Inbox to sync email with your desktop Outlook, then email sent through that account will NOT appear in the Sent Items.

If you have set up additional POP3 accounts then these are not sync'd with Outlook, but sent mail IS stored in Sent Items.

Its always funny how people say they are now giving up on say a certain callenge only to get a whole lot of ideas and end up trying harder again and eventually fixing the issue itself. Hehe

Uh, no. I do the same thing you do with subfolders and get them all on my axim. Only thing today screen show no email because there is none in the in box. To do this goto AS hit the "options" button then highlite "inbox" and then hit settings. Should show your folder structure and place a checkmark beside the ones you want to sync.

Already tried this one....in my Inbox sync options, none of them have check-boxes except Junk Email.

This is all about filtering messages on the handheld. One of my gripes* is that messages that have ALREADY been filtered on the destop into sub-folders of Inbox will not get sync'd because AS doesn't sync sub-folders.

* I don't actually use Outlook for email so all this is pie in the sky for me. The main reason I don't use Outlook is that you can't change your From: address for each email. Here I use aximsite@bryans-place.com so I can easily track spam, etc. Other places I might use other aliases, but as I receive @bryans-place.com I am free to choose. Can't do that (and other simple stuff) with Outlook so I am still looking for a good solution to reliable email on the desktop sync'd with reliable email on the handheld.
