German X50v with English A03 ? -- no Problem!

Hy,

I was in the bad situation that I live in Europe :)
And so it was not possible for me to get a ROM upgrade.
(The actual German Version is A00 ).
Put in a german PPC-Forum I found the solution:

You first have to upgrade to the english A02 (with an modified .exe-file).
After that you can (again with an modified .exe-file) upgrade to the wonderfull A03!
For me everything runs without any problems. Only the Backup with Sprite didn´t work, so I had to install everything new. But now I have A03 :approve: :approve: :approve:

And it works so great!!

Just looked at the stats button.. way down at the bottom left hand side of axim site and got the following info based on unique visitors to aximsite

Countries Unique Visitors
United States 220806 61.04%
Canada 30405 8.40%
United Kingdom 27863 7.70%
Australia 7920 2.19%
Germany 7461 2.06%

So there are a lot of German axim users here

I read in the german forum you can update any language to english A03 with the tools they provide.

I translated this thing as good as i could for you:

1. Go to Dell US Website and download the ROM Versions A02 and A03. You need both cause if you want to update to A03 you need to flash A02 first.

Don`t forget to do a backup before you flash anything

2. Download the patched AximUpdate.exe for A02

3. Download the patched AximUpdate.exe for A03

4. Double click both Rom Updates you downloaded from Dell. They will appear in C:\DELL

5. Unzip the corresponding AximUpdate.zip files into the A02 and A03 Folder in "c:\Dell".

6. Now start with the A02 Update. Double click AximUpdate.exe and use that tool to save your italian ROM image before.

7. Now your Axim should be Version A02 english. If that worked you can continue and flash A03 after you did a hard reset.

It is very easy to do. (and it should work also with the italian version).

First you need the A02 and the A03 files from the Dell US Homepage (search the forum for the links).

IMPORTANT: Save all the files u are using in this procedure for restoring your original ROM later!!!

Unzip the two Rom updates into two different folders and then download the two cracked .exe files from the german forum.
Overwrite the original files with these two (one for A02 and one For A03).

Now you can start with the procedure:

*Start A02 update and make a backup of your original ROM. (Important you only can restore your original ROM with the A02 ROM-Update programm not with the A03-program, so the best is to save it on a secure place!!)

*Perform the A02 ROM Update

*Perform the A03 ROM Update


*It´s done.

For best performance delete BIS and install EVERYTHING new!!
(I had a few problems first, because I used files from the old A00 German version).

It should work with every language, because it was originally made for chinese!

I just performed the upgrade from French to English using the procedure described by Armagedon. works like a charm. Thanks a lot.
