"Check names...MS Outlook does not recognize...

I am frequently getting "Unresolved items" when my X50v is synching up my work calendar to my home calendar. The pop-up box is titled "Check Names" and reads "Microsoft Outlook does not recognize 'Johnson, Howard'. If you have used a comma to separate addresses; click Cancel, replace the commas with semicolons, and then click Send again." It does not tell me which appointment it is stuck on.

It then goes through every name on the appointment and tries to find it in my Contacts. This is very frustrating. BTW, I'm not using commas.

What do I need to do to stop the checking of these names in Contacts?

Same problem here

With X50, outlook 2003 sp1 at home and outlook sp1 at work.
This has been extremely frustrating. :realmad:
I found out that I was unable to sync appointments where I was the originator and had other people invited.
This was strange (to say the least), as I appeared in other appointments as an attendee, as did most of the other people who were invited to my meetings... So everybody appeared in meetings which I did not initiate, and I had no problem at all synchronizing those.... :rolling: :rolling:
What I did today is to copy from the work address book all the people I usually invite to my meetings (a few dozen), and at home I synchronized, and went through the whole tedious process of pointing out each "missing" attendee from the enhanced contacts list, and all the unresolved items went away (ie were resolved). :approve:
I thought that after "linking" each name for the 1st time, it would be OK for all remaining unresolved appointments, but sadly I had to do this for each and every appointment.....
This is a problematic process, because it means that my contact list is now bloated, and if this is the right solution - I'll have to keep adding new people all the time! :exc:
Another thought that I have is that maybe the sync process did not work (ie meetings participants were not found in the address book) because during the sync process the names are searched by last name rather that first name?
A long story (Also too many long nights trying to solve it) - but at least it has been (temporarily) resolved...

I have tried just picking any random name in my address book to answer each pop-up, but as has been mentioned the next meeting goes through the same process.

My main questions are: How can I stop ActiveSync from checking the meeting attendees list against the Outlook contacts; and Why does it do this to begin with?

I'm surprised that more users aren't having the same problem and disappointed that a fix hasn't been suggested. Thanks to everyone who has read the post.

This is to do with the fact that at work these contacts are on the server address book against in your personal Outlook address book.

When I added the contacts to my address book (with their email address) the issue was resolved.

Thanks for the response Rob (cool avatar).

I understand your advice, but it's just not practical. I schedule meetings with a very large variety of people (very large company) and my Contacts folder would be jammed if I included everyone. Also, my own name comes up every time and it IS in my Contacts folder.

Why is it trying to sync these names with my Contacts folder anyway? Is there anyway to do field mapping and just leave the attendees off?

I've seen some other user websites where this problem is mentioned and it seems that there is no solution. Hopefully Microsoft will fix this big-time problem, but I'm not optimistic.

unresolved

Scubatke,

I've been researching this issue for the past 3 weeks.

It seems that at the moment - the only workaround is what rob1303 has stated - you must add all relevan contacts both to your PPC and home PC, with **exactly** the same name + email address.

In order to do this, you must add the contacts from your network to your personal contacts list (on your work PC), then perform a sync so they will be copied to your PPC, then sync at home.

Initially you'll receive the "unresolved" error, and then you'll have to go over **each and every** unresolved contact, meeting by meeting, and then all meetings will be synchronized.

I had exactly the same problem, and those are the steps I took to correct it.

I too have many meetings with many participants, and the meaning of this solution is that your PPC and home contacts list will have to hold info you don't need, but if you won't have it - you won't be able to sync those appointments.

Regarding your own name - it should be defined (including the corporate network email address) exactly as in your network.
