Hmm Slightly OT: D-Link DBT-120 installation blues

Just looking for anyone who's worked through a similar issue. My goal is to be able to synch my Axim X50v to my Dell 700m with the D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth adapter. When I install on the 700m the DBT-120 picks up COM ports 26, 27, etc. Yet the Activsync is only offering COM port 3 as an option. I can connect to the 700m with the X50v (at least they see each other) but can't synch (duh), transfer files, etc., etc. I've never even heard of a COM port as high as 26.

I know this isn't directly an Axim issue but wondered if anyone else had seen this. Both Dell and D-Link said to call for support which I will this weekend when I get time. I just dread starting a tech support call and working through all the things I've already done (that don't work) just so the tech on the other end can follow their script in order without understanding the problem.

Well I have no solution for you, ron, but by coincidence just last weekend I tried installing a D-Link DBT-120... on my Inspiron 700m.

It was not what I'd call a successful or enjoyable experience. I ended up with COM ports 12 and 13 which the BTGPS didn't wanna know, surprise surprise.

Maybe I should just go with wi-fi for synching and forget about the GPSr. The 700m (for those who don't know the laptop) has wi-fi built-in -- but this would then mean renaming my username-whatsit for the Axim, which has an underscore in it that ActiveStink apparently doesn't like with wi-fi (well why make it the bloody default then, Microsoft?).
