Guide: Bluetooth + Internet + SJPhone + Voip

See Original Post (on another forum) below - I could use SJPhone perfectly from my Axim without going through ActiveSync. Also this guide can serve to provide internet sharing, networking through routers or USB Modems.

Ok - I found a solution. We do not need to use ActiveSync after all. Please see following link for an explanation on how to setup your PC and PDA for a Personal BLUETOOTH NETWORK.

http://www.pc-counselor.com/How_to/b...th_network.htm

Guide works for both USB Modems and Routers.

If you have a router, you do not need to mess around with Microsoft Internet Sharing. I have the following setup scenario:

On Broadband with 4 Static IP Addresses
Broadband Router (NOT WIRELESS)
PC
Dell Axim x50v

Ok , The main thing to note is that you have to assign the Bluetooth PAN USer Driver a custom IP (Altough if you are using DHCP it should DIRECTLY get an IP from your router). This IP should be one of your LAN IPs.

The trick is to bridge the Bluetooth and LAN connections together so this works perfectly for people who dont want to mess around with IP addresses and you don't need to change any existing IPs (Internet Connection sharing requires you to change your IPs to 192.168.0.xxx - but if you don't have a router you have to use ICS anyway).

DO NO FORGET TO REBOOT AFTER SETTING THE BLUETOOTH PAN USER DRIVER (Soft Reset). ALSO DO NOT FORGET TO ASSIGN THE DNS ON THE PDA SAME AS YOUR ROUTER IP.

(this guide is only for poor people like me who don't have a wireless router )

Hi,

I am trying to use http://www.call1899.co.uk/voip_extra.php with SJPhone and my DELL X50V (Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition). Well, I haven't got a wireless router so I am using the internet sharing through Bluetooth and ActiveSync. My PC has a static IP Address but the host IP that my PDA gets is different, something like : 192.168.XX.XXX

I think I have setup everything correctly and on using the Same settings on my PC (PC Version of SJPhone) everything works fine, but Mobile SJPhone does not.

I don't know if it's a problem with the NAT or not. I did try putting the stun server settings but for some strange reason (I checked the firewall trace on my pc ) the mobile version of SJPhone tries to connect to stun.softjoys.com instead of stun.1899.com (the PC version is ok). Can someone tell me if this configuration would work ? I am NOT using the following configs :

1. Wireless Connection with Router and Static IP address (I have 6 static IP address from my ISP).
2. Wireless Connection with Router, Dynamic (internal) IP, with NAT and port forwarding.
3. Bluetooth Connection with Windows Internet Connection Sharing

Any help will be appreciated !
