x50 on CSI:Miami

An x50(v?) played an important role on CSI:Miami tonight. I like that they're being used more and more in TV shows. Both CSI and Alias are actually pretty good about giving them important "gadget" roles.

A couple of weeks ago, an Axim was on NCIS. Dell must be paying for product placement.

Yes, and they also said it was a $2k handheld computer.

On 24 I've seen some version of an IPAQ PPC being able to upload surveilance images and download maps all without a wireless connection, maybe from a cellular network or satelite (like XM radio). Who cares what company makes the product as long as they are showing the capability or potential capability of the pocket pc? Won't future publicity of the PPC and it's capabilities further our agenda? Check this site to see what PPC's should be: http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/module...c&t=4022#15463

Dell is putting more and more effort into this kind of publicity.

CSI often have their LCD monitors (or always), and also that new series TWO AND HALF MAN, they have the 20" LCD by DELL with the speakers!!!!

They've been doing it for ages, no one remember the wall of dell kit in Terminator 3? you can see dell kit in a lot of films produced in the last 5 years.

I guess so... but 5 years is a relatively short period of time!!!

It's good to see Dell on TV though... feels like home somehow!

Not trying to get too far off topic, but if you haven't watched TV shows on your Axim yet you're missing out on a great feature. I use it to catch up on all the shows that the rest of my family isn't into - Mostly SciFi stuff. BitTorrent is great for this because its already in the right format. You can also use TiVO to burn shows to a DVD then convert them to DiVX on your computer and put them on a CF or SD card.

As someone previously mentioned, both CSI and 2 1/2 Men essentially double as info-mercials for DELL to anyone with a discerning eye.

Interesting that it's primarily DELL that I see (maybe because I'm a Dell user).

I remember a 2 1/2 episode when 1 of the 2 1/2 was hitting on a potential date in a coffee shop who was using a 700m which I immediately picked up on since I had just purchased one.

Oh yeah, I just remembered another Dell commercial show . . . Blind Justice ... that police department has one heck of a budget since every single desk (and some filing cabinets) has a Dell laptop on it.

No harm done I guess . . . except to Dell's competitors.
