SEVGA/OZVGA... ForceLOWres <does such a thing exist???
ok. I have been a huge advocate of True VGA mode since I first discovered it in these beloved forums. My device is either constantly in TRUEVGA with SE/OZVGA or in QVGA with ForceHIres...
The reason I use all of the above is because some just work better from day to day. During the week if I am using my PocketPC I have it in constant TRUEVGA, however if I am gaming with say Gilbert Goodmate or Andale Journey of illusion, I have to put my device back in QVGA mode and use ForceHIres for adobe reader and PIE...
So I was thinking if there is such a thing as FORCELORES the we could constantly use our devices with something such as SEVGA or OZVGA... Because for the programs that still dont support true VGA we could just FORCELORES them and be good right???
So does such an animal exist? Because by my thinking, if we use SEVGA/OZVGA and have a FORCELORES program in place. We should theoretically never have to soft reset to go back to QVGA right???

So, if I am to undertand correctly, you want to use a program to force the resolution to VGA, and then use a program that counteracts that program to force it into Quarter VGA...hmm. I have not used any thus yet since I am still waiting on the X50v, but would that not take much more processing power? Sure, no soft reset would be required to get into QVGA, but I would think with both programs needing to be resident in memory the performance would be sluggish to say the least. But, then again, I am still a newbie :) Anyone else have a comment on this?

I dont think either of these programs take up Memory persay, since from what I understand it's something of a registry tweak... or dll tweak or something. (Im not good with the details I just know what the end result is :P
But to clarify. Yes I want to use the SEVGA/OZVGA so that the POCKETPC is forced into VGA mode. and then a second program to Force a select few programs back into QVGA. I know this sounds confusing if you havent even got your x50v yet but trust me you'll understand when you do... :approve:

I've asked the very same question on the forums and a lot of people seem to think its lunacy. This would be ideal for me as Id be receiving all the benefits of true vga, while still getting the benefits of running it stock (compatability). Someone out there has to be working on something like this.

Well here is a third or fourth person who wants to see a piece of software like this.
But on a different post, it sounds like you cant make the PPC think backwards and double pixle everything. I certianly hope thats wrong though.

what i think Lomius meant is that he wants a program that can hack a software to run in 192dpi(SEVGA) instead of 96dpi(true vga). I would also like to have such a program.

yeah, maybe if someone wrote like a zoom program, where with a press of a button it will zoom in onto the top left quarter of the screen, and with another click of the button, it will zoom back out.

I think the concept of a Zoom program is possible, but what about the digitizer? I assume you will have to zoom that also. Because many games just dont pay attention to the VGAness of the screen and makes me navigate with the top corner of the digitizer while the game is streatched out.

Yeah, this happened when I tried running SkyForce in true VGA mode. Pretty weird.

Exactly. This is in a nutshell what I am wanting as well. There has got to be a way to do this. I mean Soft resetting for the benefits of either is ok. But my thinking is if it possible to force Hi then it should be possible force Low...

Okay,
Do you think we might get more input from the developer's corner? I dont know how to program nor do I know how the high res hack works. Perhaps it isnt very difficult and it was just something they never considered.
The concept logically works, we just need something to apply it or prove that its illogical ^_^

So far I've tried Nyditot and you are able to change the resolutions without having to soft-reset. However, when I try to put the resolution to approx OzVGA size, the fonts are definitely blurry. But it does have like a ZOOM function like I wanted above...
