When will WM2005 start appearing in the new X50v
We all saw Dell's announcement that they begin shipping the WM2005 upgrade for existing X50v users in the 3rd quarter. However does anyone have any idea when Dell will start selling the X50v with the WM2005 already installed...before or about the same time as upgrade?

I'd say probably around the same time. Final code was just released yesterday, so the OEMs will need some time to incorporate the code, even if they've already been using the beta versions.

Most likely they will start offering a "free guaraneed upgrade" coupon within a month or so, most manufacturers did that when 2003 was announced mainly so that sales of devices didnt stagnate. When I purchased my old x5 it had a coupon for a free upgrade.

Any anticipated upgrades to the hardware? e.g. 256MB ROM and 128MB RAM for instance?

says right in the press release.
later this year 7/05-9/05 most likely.
Frankly, it'll be sent out when it's ready. It takes quite some time to rewrite all their extra software to the new api's, get a video driver that uses the new abilities, test that software to see what's broken, re-rewite the software to make the broken stuff work, etc. etc.
Personally I'd expect it to be around mid september, just a guess.

Either way, I'd rather have them take their time and iron out more bugs before releasing it to everyone. Although, I'm very excited to get my hands on it too.

I just received my second x50v a couple of weeks ago. Think they'll let me have the upgrade for free? :)

Here, here. I agree. The x50 works fine for now. I can easly wait a month or two longer to ensure they get it right. I love the gapi driver, but would love to not have to use it!

Try "Hear, hear". You are instructing people to hear what the other poster said. Sorry for being nitpicky :)

Nope. That was before Dell even announced that they would offer an upgrade. For that matter it was even before Microsoft announced that there would be another version of the OS, though that was not much of a secret. :)
