Exclamation A03 breaks Mega MameCE?

Updated to A03 and again installed Mega MAME CE.
Try to start MAME CE but my X50v hangs and I have to soft reset.

Tried re-installing a few times - same result - It hangs.

Has anyone got it to work with A03?

I would like to know if it works ok as well. This is something I am definitely going to use, and if there is a problem I most definitely won't apply the update when I receive the system.

Yes it worked with A02 and A01
It was a little buggy - since it hasn't been update since Jan 2003.
But with A03 it hangs the system (it tries to start - but only get the spinning busy icon) - must soft reset.

Everything else is great and fixed with A03 (I won't go back to A02)
I may just use a NES emulator - for my 80's classic arcade games.

Hmm, I think I will do the update when mine arrives as well. I am not going to sacrafice the fixes for one dated emulator. It probably won't make any difference, but did you try the regular MameCE (not Mega) as well? I'll have to give it a spin after the update here (should be getting my system today) and see if I can get it to work.

EDIT: Hmm, reading some more on A03...I may just have to think that upgrade over a bit.

I received my unit today and applied the A03 update as well. I have both the regual and Mega versions sitting here on the HD. It's kind of late but I will try to get to it tomorrow. I'll try my best to get it working, as I am a long time Mame'er so to speak.

Works fine for me also....X50v and A03. I installed the emulator AND the roms (all 2,000+ of them), to my 6GB Hitachi microdrive. Works great!

Also, something that I noticed...on A02 ROM, starting up MegaMameCE 9.5 (the version to use), took about 4 to 5 minutes to get to the main emulator screen (I had the emu and the 2000+ roms on the same Microdrive/same folders). Now, it only takes about 30 seconds to get to the main screen.

WOW! Microdrive access has dramatically improved on this new A03 update!

Also, I need the emulamer GAPI 1.11 tweak to run MegaMAMEce 9.5 with the A03 ROM. If I use original driver, it works, but speed is really bad on ALL games that normally run.

So, in effect, you need the GAPI tweak. Make sure you are running the correct version of the MEGAMAMEce. Use the 'strongarm' version of 9.5 cab. Install to a SD card or microdrive. For the ROMS, you need to use .36 final mame roms. They are out there.

Works great, though. I am very happy with this ROM update. Also, I dont use any VGA programs or such. Only programs I am using are XCPUscalar, for overclocking up to 728 mhz.

have fun!

I am planning on that 6GB microdrive as well. Great to hear that I will be able to put the whole v0.36 romset on it and the unit will see them. I did install the GAPI tweak earlier, although I have yet to install something that makes real use of it...MameCE will be next!

EDIT: A bit off topic, but how do Neo-Geo games run?

None of the NEO-GEO games run. There is a bug that does not allow any rom to run that is over 1MB and ALL NEO-GEO games are way over that...darn. I would love to play Viewpoint, Magician Lord, or Last Resort. Too bad we can't get Kawacks or another NEO-GEO emulator to work on PDAs....sigh.
